View Full Version : Hello Melbourne mummies
:) Hi there I am a 32 y.o. mummy of two boys 18 months and 3 months. We moved to Hawthorn from Sydney in February this year and I don't know many people south of NSW and would love 2 chat if you're interested. Hope I don't sound desperate....
Hello, I know how you feel. We also moved from interstate (South Australia) a while ago. I have a 2 year old little Girl and am currently busy with all of her activities. You have picked a nice suburb in Melbourne to live in. As it is close to the city.
Yeah - Hawthorn is a pretty suburb. It's great for walks having a sticky beak and all the lovely houses and along the river. Although I can't rave about the weather, it's depressing. What part of Melbourne do you live in?
Hi, the river sounds very nice, are you living there permanently. We have been living in Doncaster East for a long time now. We used to live in Kew, a lovely area also.
What made you move to Melbourne?
We moved to Melbourne because my husband was transferred through his work.
We love it here and would not move any where else.

Hi,
I am in Kooyong, 32 with a 14month old boy and would like to make friends too! We're pretty close to you I think - just off Glenferrie Rd, near Toorak Rd.
Gosh, reading all about where you guys live makes me so homesick. I grew up in Melbourne and I lived in Camberwell & Hawthorn for years. I got married (now divorced) at that beautiful church on the corner of Glenferrie & Burwood Rds. We used to live in Wattle Rd. Hawthorn is a lovely part of town and walking along the river is gorgeous.
You're right about the weather though - don't miss that at all, although it's been pretty Melbourne-ish here in SA the last couple of days!
Sharon, if you like having a sticky at the gorgous houses - go for a walk or drive along Harcourt Street which runs inbetween Auburn Rd and Burke Rd (runs parallel with Barkers Rd). If you're in your 30's (I'm 35) then you might remember a TV show called Carson's Law with Lorraine Bailey in it a quite few years back - I was in high school when it was screened. They filmed the series in one or more of the houses there. I used to live around the corner and often went for a walk to check out the mansions! Gorgeous!
Have a lovely day girls!
:) :) Hi guys
Thanks for your replies. I wasn't really expecting any, its great to hear from you all. We got to escape the Melbourne blues for 1 week and headed up to the gold coast, winter up north is a fabulous 21 degrees during the day and got to a low of around 13 (Melbourne's max for the day).
We are here temporarily for my husband's work. We have talked about the boys and I going back to Sydney for 1 to 2 months during the next winter. Our boys and my husband and had a persisting cold for nearly 7 weeks! I think the main problem with me not enjoying Melbourne as much as I thought I would is the weather and having no friends plus its harder to get out now - I don't really like to disturb baby Billy while he is sleeping. When I have taken the 2 boys out, they take turns in being cranky.
We do enjoy going for walks and have a sticky beak at the lovely houses, I'll put Harcourt street as one of my destinations. I took my younger son (3 1/2 months) for a walk to try and put him to sleep and ended up in East Melbourne at my husband's office. There are huge houses in, I think its called, Shakespear's Grove. They're amazing. You don't see houses like these in Sydney.
Will's mumma I would like to meet you. I'll check when my husband can stay at home for a few hours and look after Billy and I can meet you with my older boy, Charlie. Do you think a park would be a good place to meet.
I think I have said enough.
