Hospitals and Dr's in the Sutherland Shire Area

Hi ladies,
We'll be moving to the sutherland shire district soon and I'm due to have a bub in April by c-section...I'm just wondering if anyone can recommend a Dr and/or hospital in the cronulla/kurnell area. Doesn't matter if its private or public...I really don't have any clue as to where to start in the field of a dr and hospital...:confused: and any help would be greatly appreciated. If you feel uncomfortable about naming dr's personal details can you PM me...thanks so much:)

Hi There,

Not too sure about doctors in the area (the GP I was using I wouldnt recommend to anyone after recent events)

You have a few hospital to choose from...

* Sutherland Hospital - this is a public hospital (it is approx 10 mins from Cronulla)

* Kareena Private Hospital - obviously a private hospital (this is opposite Sutherland Hospital. I know someone who had a c-section there and she highly recommended it)

* St George Hospital (this is a bit further away from Cronulla, approx 20 mins, but I can recommend this hospital as I had my daughter here after a 43hr labour. It is a larger hospital and does have specialist paediatricians there in case of anything out of the ordinary)

I am in the process of finding as new GP in the area so can let you know some more information when I know some if you would like.

ETA - I forgot to add that im not 100% sure on ob's in the area as I had all my ante natal care done out in Western Sydney. I will ask around though for you and see if I can come up with anything :)

My 1st is due at the end of June & I am going to Kareena Private. Whilst I haven't actually been to the hospital yet, I've had a look at the website & it looks great - underwent a major refurbishment in Sept 2007.

My OB is Dr Andrew Zuschmann & he is fantastic, his office is just down the street from the hospital. If you're interested I can PM you his details.

Im currently with Andrew as well it is only at the beginning and I was just wondering if he does stay with you right up to the end and deliver the baby. I just want to be sure that the doctor I'm comfortable with will be there the whole way through.

I gave birth at Sutherland Shire hospital, they were great especially for a public hospital.

I think Kareena private is good too, my friend had both her babies there.

I've heard mixed opinions about st George.
