Max is now 15wks old (3.5mths) and wiggles around his cot so much he hits his head on the bars and hurts his head (scratches and bumps).

I have a cot bumper and have put it on tonight to try and stop this from happening...I also have an angel care motion and sound monitor to make sure of any problems...

My Question is:

Who is using a cot bumper and when did you start to use it?

thanks in advance

(PS, i know all about the SIDS recommendations, but can't remember when I started using the bumper for my other son)

Hi,

I have a cot bumper on M's cot and have done since she went in there at 4 weeks old. She couldn't move up her cot at that time so I didn't worry about it too much, I also had a Tommee Tippee Ultimate Reassurance Monitor so we felt okay about it.

She has been moving around her cot now for about 2 weeks and it hasn't been a problem so far. I also know about all the SIDS recommendations I don't know why we had it on there really, but we did.

I am glad I am not the only one...will see how he goes tonight and reassess...I just hate him hitting his head on the side bars...poor little mite.

If you are worried about SIDS you can get these bumbers that are made of mesh type material to allow air flow and your baby can still breathe if he/she gets squished up against it. :)

I am going to buy one of the mesh ones, the bumper I am using is only on the "head" end not all the way round. You can buy them in Big W and other baby suppliers.

My angel care is always hooked up to a powerpoint...I had similar thing happen when Jack was a baby...I only use batteries if I want to take the unit outside for some reason (washing, gardening etc...)

I mght get the mesh bumper I think, just till he's a bit older...and the added bonus of it going all the way around...mine does the head and half way down each side...only good if he wiggles up that end and turns sideways (which is likes to do...)

thanks ladies..;)
