I agree! I don't reckon it has much of a future anyway. People will be too scared to get on it!!!

It should have been closed down years ago! Wasn't there another accident years ago and they were going to close it??

I have to say I am a bit biased here. The man who owns it is known to our family. He has had the worst few years of his life recently. He has also endured sabotage, so it has not all been his fault.
As far as the community goes, he has given an exceptional amount of jobs to teenagers (my two brothers included) over the years. In Dromana when I was growing up, you took a part-time job at either the local supermarket (at the time Nancarrows) or at the chair-lift.
It is an icon to the Peninsula and has created more tourism than just about any other attraction. This in turn has kept a lot of other local businesses in the money. I am disgusted that the government won't recognise this and pitch in. They spend loads of money on tourism elsewhere but seem to have bypassed little old Dromana.

PS I had my first boy kiss on the chairlift!!:D

I used to live down near there till i moved to perth, and can say I do remember that there were a few incidences (sp??) that occurred. I think that there has been some bad luck and possibly the sabotage that was mentioned in an earlier post, but I think that the biggest problem with it is that it is the only one like it in the area, so every time something goes wrong, it gets plastered all over the media etc, but when it is running smoothly you just dont hear anything about it. I know that this is inevitable, but I can only think of the incident a few years ago, and the one that has just happened that are bad, so my conclusion would be that it has either been closed for repair/maintenance in the mean time, or it has been running smoothly and no one has bothered to mention it in a public medium as there isn't too much news shock value when something is running well. I do feel for the operators, especially if they have put a lot of time and money into it, accidents do happen, and they cannot always be predicted or prevented by normal maintenance.

I agree - it should be closed down. Whether its sabotage or not, stuff keeps happening and it is not safe.
