Hi
I had an extremely painful period 3 months ago with almost fainting, severe cramps, vomiting and the other end if you know what I mean.
I had no idea what was going on, as I've been off the pill for 9 months before this trying to regualte my hormones but never had this before.
I used to have really heavy periods with back pain no cramps so this was really different.
The next few periods were just exhausting but not painful like that so I asked my doc and he referred me for scans and specialist at the hospital for possible endo.
My scan was all clear for cysts and the specialist said it was a one off and I shouldn't have been referred so early.
So....this month after seeing the specialist I've had another bad episode of the worst symptoms. I've never felt cramps like that before and am confused how long to monitor this before asking again.
The specialist thought I was just whinging I think. I don't have heavy bleeding like I used to pre pill and only short periods so not sure what endo actually causes but any help would be appreciated.
I'm disappointed that they had no help for me other than some painkilers and told to deal with it. Hard to go to work when you can't move as I'm sure some of you can relate to.

Hope someone can shed some light on what might be going on. Just doesn't seem normal.

Hi steviebabynz. It sounds like you may have endo...and the only way they can see that in accurately is for them to do some investigative surgery. I had the exact same thing...really bad pain, so I actually passed out, vomiting the whole lot (and that was on my honeymoon!!!) anyway when I got my next period it was fine, however the one after that was the same as what I have just described. So i went to my doctor and got a referral to see an ob/gyno and he said he wanted to have a look. He did a laproscopy and hysteroscopy and I had a large cyst ball full of endometriosis on my right ovary. I wouldnt have even known I had this condition if it hadnt been for the investigative surgery. So my answer to you would be to go and ask for it to be checked out. Endo does call fertility problems, so if you do have it then its best to get it removed. Good luck!

Yeah I thought it wasn't normal as such

I have to monitor a few more periods bfore the gyno at the hospital wants to see me again.
Not that he said how many times it has to be bad before they'll investigate.

So back through the whole process I guess. Might go private this time might get better results.

Thanks fo replying tho :-)

Sorry that you have been experiencing such awful periods.

I just wanted to say that it isn't normal!!!
I was just like you and the docs tried to tell me it was all in my head...that I was over-reacting. Turned out I wasn't...I had very severe endo on my left ovary, the back of my uterus, along both fallopian tubes and on my bowels.

When you go back to the doc, dont take no for an answer. The fact that you've been to the doc suggests that this just isnt normal for you. Dont let them bully you into thinking you are over reacting, thats what they did to me. And seek a second opinion if you arent convinced by the first.

PP is right that the only way to diagnose endo is Laparoscopy surgery. I had ultrasounds, etc and there was no sign of endo....it wasnt until they did the surgery that they found it.

Good luck and remember that you know your body better than anyone else.
