Expenses and PHI

After experiencing complications in my first labour and being advised to only have c/section in future, I am considering taking out private cover.

With private cover, (HBA) they say they only cover hospital expenses. What happens with the regular appointments leading up to the deliver, i have heard that the 20week appt with private ob can cost $2000. Is this covered by medicare, PHI or do I pay it all myself??

My OB charged a management fee at 20 weeks ... it was roughly like this ....

Initial appt ... $110 plus dating u/s $50
All other appts .... $70

12 weeks u/s ... $250

20 week u/s .... $280

Management fee ... $1,950

Out of pocket for the c-section .. $300 for OB and his assistant, Anesthetist ... $200.

Paed ... $300 to be at the delivery and $150 per check up (he only made one check)

Hospital only my excess and any meals my husband had.

All of the expenses ... except the out of pocket ones mentioned were all claimable under medicare.
