Since I am not pregnant, but when it happens it happens.

I am wondering how this age gap will go? Pros cons?

Thanks

I only have one child at the moment, I hope you don't mind me responding.

My sister is 4.5 years younger than me and we are incredibly close, and always have been. As kids, from when she was about two, we played together all the time. It didn't matter that our ages were quite far apart, she always did whatever I wanted her to do, and she loved being with such a "cool" older sister, it was great

We weren't competitive at all, because she was so much younger, she was never in the same league as me at school/sport/music etc. and always got to make her own mark in time. When she turned out to be amazing at something that I wasn't that good at, I was incredibly proud of her instead of being jealous, as my time had passed anyway. When she wasn't good at something that I was good at, she wasn't compared to me and made to feel inferior at all.

As teenagers, I could help her and advise her about school/friends/boys having been there myself, but also having an older/more experienced/broader perspective on things.

My brother and I, on the other hand, are two years apart, and we are not close at all, we were always competing, always in each others' shadows, always compared... I could go on, but suffice to say I think the 4.5 year age gap between my sister and I was perfect! :goodvibes::goodvibes:

 rowie,

My little man was born 5 months ago and my daughter is 4.5yrs older than him. I was worried about the gap, but so far it's been incredibly awesome. We had lots of time to talk to her about Lincoln's arrival, she knew what was happening, she has been very helpful with changing nappies, rocking him to sleep, singing to him, making him laugh, trying to sooth him etc. There have been a few minor jealousy issues and a bit of misbehaviour because she had DH and I all to herself for a long, long time but all in all it's been great! Don't worry, it will be fine when it happens

DD will be off to school next year, and although I'm sad about not having her around all the time, I will be able to have lots of 1 on 1 time with DS too and do all the things I did with DD when she was a baby, so I'm pretty stoked with the gap!

:smiliedance:I am excited about the whole going to school thing too, thats why I thought the gap would be good. I mean I will miss DD but having one on one time with bub2 will be great....

There is 5yrs 2 months between my 2 oldest boys and I found that there wasn't a problem at all. DS1 was old enough to talk about the new baby before he was born therefore there was no jealousy at all. DS1 loved teaching his little brother all sorts of things including some things that I really didn't want DS2 to learn (like how to throw balls at the wall inside the house and catch them). They're still pretty close now even though DS1 lives with my XH.

Any age gap is a good one....I haven't even had any jealousy from DD towards DS3 and there is only an 18 month age gap there.

Best wishes TTC.
