I am sooo craving a proper caramel slice.
I bought one at Michels Patisserie today ...and...:barf:
I want a recipie for the real one.. where the caramel tastes like caramel and is so rich and gooey it feels like a sin to eat it!
Anyone know what I mean?

Hmm.. No.
I ADORE caramel slice.
But if I gave you a recipe it probably wouldn't be what you were hoping for. :o

do you mean the regular caramel slice recipe you can find on the sides of tinns of sweetened condenced milk, etc, that most people use?
I know michelles one tastes different, the caramel isnt as thick, and its really sweet, without much of that caramel flavour.
But maybe you mean a different recipe?
maybe you could make one of the normal ones and adjust the recipe if its not right - add more golden syrup to make it more caramelie IYKWIM?

I do a basic biscuit base, simmer a can or two of sweetened condensed milk with golden syrup (but I used brown sugar) and butter and cook and cook and cook it.. Then pop it on top of the bikkie base and then put chocolate on top.
A little while ago I made a caramel oat slice.
It was DELICIOUS. :)
I still have some left. :cloud9:

Darn you I'd almost gotten over my craving for Caramel slice (with out caving too) and now its back!!!!!
I keep meaning to try the one fast ed did on better homes and gardens but it involves like 3 cans of condensed milk!!!
Good luck with finding the right recipe!
Well I do the totally unsafe thing that my Mum and friends have done for years. I get a tin of condensed milk, put it in a large saucepan of water, bring to the boil and simmer for about 6 hrs. Stand until cooled then open the can.
Spread it over whatever base you want. Top with cream or marshmellow.
It says on the tin do not boil in the tin as it may explode...but it hasn't happened to me.
Up to you!
