as it is starting to get colder, my 3 month old kirra wakes up at the usual nightly feed, say 2.30am, however then wakes up 2 hours later, at first I thought it was hunger again and in my tired state I fed her, however now I think she may be cold not hungry? . Use the usual pjs sleeping bag, fold over mittens, Can you put woolen beanies on babies through the night? is two blankets to many or not enough?

I would be hesitant on putting a beanie on your bubs...
this is what i use for my son...
warm pj's (usually either fleecy or flanelette...) socks, slipper and cotton body suit.
then we have at least one quilt and a flanelette sheet on normal nites, up to 3 on cold nites...
we also have a small heater which we put in his room at nite (its taken out when he is awake)
we have found this to keep him warm at nite
:D

My son is 4 months old and often I've gone into him in the early hours of the morning and he has been rather chilly to touch. Poor little guy has the coldest room in the house.
We bought a little heater for his room that we put on half an hour before his bed time to warm up the room. We turn it off when he goes to bed (I am absolutely paranoid about fires) and then I turn it on again when I give him his early morning feed and turn it off again when we are finished. He wears fleecy sleep suits to bed with fold over mittens, sometimes with a bodysuit underneath. He has flannellette sheets and a cellular blanket with a few bunny rugs on top, all tucked in around him. It has really done the trick for us.

When we get especially cool nights here (can get down to 7 deg on a cold snap night) I put Raleigh in socks, singlet, bond's wondersuit, fleecy jumper and pants and put a beanie on her. I also tuck a blanket in around her but she often kicks that off. If it were really really cold I'd put one of those sleeping bag suits over the top of what she already had on. Its a bit anoying when you have to change a dirty nappy but the inconvenience of that is outweighed by a warm baby :)

I generally tried to keep the room at 70-75oF (whatever that is in celcius) using a heater and then used fewer layers on my daughter. I just felt more in control, that no matter what temp it dropped to outside the heater would keep the room comfortable and I wouldn't be worried about her being cold, or overheating.

well, she still woke up for a 2nd time but she was warm. It wasnt the cold that woke her it was a windy belly :o ! I am still a little hesitant to put a beanie on but the rest is doing the trick!
