Howdy,
My poor boy (nearly 5 months) has gastro :gloomy: He started vomiting on Wednesday last week and has diorrea since. We took him to the Dr's and they said it was gastro. We are feeding him his milk and water, and he takes it okay, but sometimes it can be hard! My hubby and I both got it too and have just recovered! I'm also finding he seems to have a lot more wind too, he burps and sometimes it sounds wet (does that make sense?)!Plus on top of this, he has been teething badly for a few weeks now. My poor little dude! He seems very distressed, whinges and cries a lot which is very out of character for him! :crying:

Does anyone have any suggestions that might help, especially when it comes to trying to get him to sleep? Thanks in advance :hugs:

First of all I want to say your son has a great name:D .

My little Will has just gotten over Gastro...he had it for 10days:gloomy: . He had more vomitting then diarrea(sp?). The first 3 days he had trouble keeping even water down, and started to become dehydrated, so the Dr. told be to give him Gastrolyte to rehydrate him. To keep an eye on how much fluid he was taking in I would give his water to him in a syringe...(about 10mls every 15mins) until he started keeping things down again.
Don't have any ideas how to help him sleep.
Hope you and your little man are feeling heaps better soon.

DD had the same thing when she was just 4mths. She had vomiting from the wed night til the thurs afternoon...then had diarrea for another 11days after that.

Dr told us to give her 'pedialyte' to keep her hydrated...between her not wanting much formula, and me not really wanting to give her any, she was drinking pedialyte thru the day with a formula feed morning and night...that was all she really wanted anyway.

Hope bubba feels better soon :hugs:

Oh gosh im so sorry you are going through this. We all had this about 10 days ago. Poor DD was throwing up all over her cot and having it coming out the other end aswel!! Me and DH had it so bad! I was throwing up every 10 minuets for about 2 days!! None stop! We rang the hospital and they said to drink little sips of water, even if i throw it up, because maybe a little will be absorbed. With DD they told me to keep offering her any kind of fluid she wanted. They actualy told me to give her sips of sprite!!! As wierd as this sounds, it turned out to be the only think she kept down.

Other than that we gave her panadol on her dummy, in very small doses because she had a fever.

As for sleeping, do anything you can to give him a good night's sleep. Rock him to sleep in ur arms if he won't settle by himself. You can always get back into a routine when he's better.

Other than that i really don't know what to do to help you.:crying:
It's such a horrible thing isn't it.:hugs:

I have posted this in the immunisation issues section as well but thought it might help some of you who are still experiencing this problem... My DD has had gastro three times in the last two months and im sick of her being sick!

Apparently there is a new immunisation coming out in two weeks for $200 that will prevent gastro... I'm hoping to afford it!
