didnt know what to title

rubys nearly 7 months and sees seth drink all the time water/milk from his hard spout sippy cup.

he leaves them lying around the place so he can drink when he pleases.

now i know ruby doesnt take a bottle well unless its those soft teats that you gum and it spurts out.

basicly given her environment. do you think she will wean earlier then a child that never sees a bottle? your opinions please

eta - it is not possible to get seth onto a cup as he has learning difficulties (ASD)

Until he was around 4 months DS would occasionally have EBM in a bottle, but didn't take bottles at all from 4 months to around 10 months (so I never got a break). From 8 months he did take water through a straw cup (Pigeon MagMag), and from then on he was open to the idea of bottles and once again was happy to have EBM in a bottle.

So as you can see, through time he has had exposure to bottles, straw cups and so forth, and yet he is still an avid breastfeeder if ever there was one. So in my experience, exposure to cups/bottles/etc doesn't affect the love for breastfeeding.

im not sure, dd3 still has bottles, ds plays with them, try's to drink it occasionally, he has ebm every now and then, so he knows what they are for, but still prefers the breast:yes:..

I dont think exposure to bottles or sippy cups has anything to do with how lengthy your breastfeeding relationship will be. I mean, if Ruby was actually USING the bottle with formula or EBM on a regular basis then that might have an impact - but I very much doubt that playing with a bottle would do anything.

The ABA also recommend that bubs use sippy cups straight up instead of bottles - I guess this helps to avoid nipple confusion.

MOT - do you mean the hard spout sippy cups or the soft spouts?

Hmmm - good question LOL

Jedd always had a combination of both hard spouts and the soft ones - but I think I favoured giving him the hard ones cause they were cheaper (I always bought the take'n'toss cause they're cheaper - we have a habit of losing these things lol)

Umm - they're the anti-spill ones but they dont have a stopper. Honestly - I dont think you have anything to worry about :) Your doing brilliantly!
