Hi Everyone,

I posted a thread simular to this in the North Coast part of NSW but got no responses so i thought i would try here, as Tweed Heads is right on the boarder.

Me and DF are thinking about moving up towards Tweed Heads. He has been offered a really great job... the only problem for me is i have never been there and would really love to know what the town has to offer (public transport, shopping centres ect).

We have found a house in Miami with is further up the coast... does any one know how long it would take to drive from Miami to Tweed Heads??

Not many available houses around, most properties are units/apartments or duplex/townhouses.

Does anyone know of a nice suburb around the Tweed Heads area?? Preferably near the beach
:D

Hi Hollie

I live at Burleigh Heads, so closer to Miami than to Tweed, but anyway...

For general info on Tweed Heads I'd probably start at the Tweed council website http://www.tweed.nsw.gov.au/, and you might also find some useful stuff on the Gold Coast website http://www.goldcoast.qld.gov.au.

I can't really help with any specific info about living in the Tweed area, but as far as driving distances go you'd probably be looking at 30-45 minutes driving from Miami to Tweed Heads, allowing for traffic - it's about 20km but if you're driving at peak hour it'll obviously take a lot longer than if you're travelling before/after peak times.

Regarding housing, yes, a lot of it on the Gold Coast, and probably extending down to the Tweed region is more apartments or townhouses - real estate is expensive up here! For the record we live in a 3 bedroom 2.5 bathroom townhouse with our own back yard, so don't necessarily write a place off just because it isn't a "house" - you might be surprised :fingerscrossed:

Shopping on the Tweed and Gold Coasts is fairly good - we're not too "rural" so we have all the usual Coles/Woolworths (aka Safeway)/Target/KMart/BigW/Myer as well as heaps of specialty stores, etc. If you end up in Miami you won't be too far away from Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, and on the Gold Coast all the supermarkets are open until 9pm Monday-Friday, so you would have the option of maybe using public transport during the day or possibly doing your grocery shopping after your DF gets home from work?

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but good luck with your relocation.
