Have had two previous c-sections. First was emergency and second was booked in but went into labour 15 days before due date so was also emergency. This time was given the due date of 21 march 09, but told this was 5-6 days out but wasn't worth changing as not more than a week. This means that bub is due around the 15 March so if was early could be beginning of March. Was just recomended not to go into labour (back in nz) because lost alot of blood the first time. How early have other people has their c-sections booked in?

standard these days in most hospitals is 39 weeks. there stills is a lot of hospitals that are still booking in for 38 though.

i was booked in at 40 weeks and 4 days because that is what i asked for.

best to speak to your doc and discuss your options as every case should be dealt with differently :)

Depends on the OB, the hospital and on the patient.

For me I had to have elective c/s both times and they were booked for 39 weeks (its usually 38 or 39 weeks, unless there is history of premature labour than it can be 36 or 37 weeks).
Some people want to try for a VBAC or just go into spontaneous labour prior to a c/s, so its best to talk through your options with your OB.

Mine were both booked after the 18-20 week scan, so quite a long time in advance (and this may not be usual) but for me it gave me peace of mind, esp when I had BH and thought I might go early - luckily both girls waited til extraction day at 39 weeks!!

I didn't make a final decision about the c/s until later in my pregnancy. The booking was made at 35 weeks. I was booked in for 38 + 3, but ended up having him at 38 + 1 when my waters broke early.

My Ob gyn is trying to book me in at 38 weeks. I refuse. So it will be 39 weeks or I don't know what!
Will find out how I go this friday.

they tried to book me in for something like 38 weeks too.
i simply said they 'can' book me in but i wont show up....
with DD1 i went to 42 weeks and 2 days so i did not see the need to book in early and wanted to wait until after 40 weeks.
with persistence and a nurse who was on my side i got what i wanted :D

This will be my second and I am going in at 38 weeks and 5 days. The hospital basically allocates a day to my ob and thats what we have to work with. The date I wanted is allocated to another doctor. Last time i was 39 weeks.

Mmmm, Well I got my date and it's 9 days before the EDD. Not as good as I was hoping for. Then again it's not as bad as I was fearing either:cool:

I was originally booked in for 38 + 1 but that worked out to be New Years Eve and the hospital cancelled the booking. It was rescheduled to 39 + 1 as my OB couldn't get theatre time prior to then.

I'm kind of glad that the original booking was cancelled as I wouldn't want to have had bubs on New Years Eve when the hospital would probably only have skeleton staff on. And most importantly it gives bubs an extra week in the oven :D.

I had mine at 38+6. It was fine for us, and otherwise it would have been a week after that and if I HAD to have CS to safely deliver my DS (in my opinion and my drs/middies) then it was going to be elective, not emergency!!!
