My conversion to cloth has begun, so I thought i should do the same with wipes. I dont know what the best type of material is for these. I was thinking of making some wipes out of DD's old terry's, would that be ok to too rough? I know you can buy them, but if terry is ok, then id rather use some of those.

Terry should be ok, I know people use old face washers which is pretty much the same material. I prefer flannelet, just cut up & overlocked some I had leftover

hmm i'm not sure if this is what you call re-usable.. but this is what i do!
i use terry towling for nappies, so when changing her i just use another one and wipe her down with the nappy then get a new one and use that for her nappy...is that the same thing?

it would be hard by itself, but i have a cup of water that sits next to where i change her and i just dip the towel in the water and wipe her, not so hard any more! and then it just gets washed with the other nappies

I just bought a bunch of white facewashers (Little Wishes brand ones) from a Woolies/Safeway supermarket (they're available from Big W too). They were, from memory, $3 for a pack of 3. I bought 10 packs, and 30 is PLENTY - we never run out, we could probably use about 1/2 that really.

My local supermarket has 6 packs of facewashers on special for $2....would it work getting a few packs? They seem to be the same material as terry..but with shorter lil fluffy bits (dont know how to describe that sorry) I do have an old flanellete sheet i could destroy, but its got too much sentimental value to want to use it as bum wipes (gave birth on it )

I originally bought a few packs of 10 of the 'big softies' brand of face washers (they have similar ones at k-mart & big W) And they were fine to use......then I got an itti bitti deluxe cloth wipe - and OMG velour is soooo nice. Even DS lays still while i wip him with the new ones, the old ones, he squirms about and complains. I swore i wouldn't get more, as they are too extravegant.....but now i have about 16 of them! :o :p

I use a combination of face washers and bamboo velour/ flannellette/ cotton fleece wipes. I love the bamboo velour ones, it just gets all the yuck off lol.

I presoak some in dixie drop solution, and leave them next to the change table, they smell and feel nicer than plain water.

I use face washers, I have those bright coloured big softies ones, and some plain old brown ones from the supermarket, they're HUGE so I'm expecting them to get a run for their money in a few weeks with all the newborn pooplosions!

I use face washers too, light coloured ones as the fluff from the dark ones would go all over my mcns. Just have a container of water on DS dresser and also a waterbottle incase I run out.

Terry flats would work fine but you would have to edge them as otherwise they run (not sure if that is the right word) and get all stringy ends.

mumalicious- hahaha pooplosions!!

Another face washer user here (I use sposies but love the cloth wipes)
I use both the little wishes ones which are fluffier and the 10pack of thin baby washers I find the thicker ones are better for poos but the thin ones are great for just wet.
I also found that a little bag of cotton wool balls and some cetaphyl/sorbolene in a little container was really handy for NB poos when out it is easier to get into all the little creases and crevices. (I use it after the cloth/wipe to give thet extra clean if it was a really yuck poo)
