I am having great difficulty ATM trying to eat anything, some foods just touch my tounge (ie meat) or i smell them and I start to gag - so I am in desperate need of foods that I can eat to get energy back AND hopefully keep down.

So far I can eat raisen toast, jatz with cream cheese, vege soup, fruit tingles, water ice blocks and that is about it. I had pasta and sauce for dinner the other night, and spent the night fighting to keep it down. I KNOW I need to eat better than this, and so far this morning I have managed to keep down my pre-natal vitamins (elevit and natures own omega oil with extra folate) but physically, i can't get food down. I can't even read the blackboards out the front of the local pub when we drive past, as reading about food makes my stomach turn.

The M/W at the hospy said drinking is one of the most important things, so I am drinking heaps of water, enough to avoid being dehydrated again, so that part is OK. But any ideas for food would be appreciated. I OD'd on apple juice, strawberry smoothies and ginger beer during other pregnancies, and they make me puke at the smell, so they are out. And meat is disgusting - same happened with DS, i became partially vegetarian, not through choice. I have cravings for sweet things, with condensed milk, which surely can't be good for me? And mum is going to make me some gingerbread men, as they were a godsend with DS, but the theme is for sweet, and not high in nutrition - ARGH!

ETA: I am about 7-9weeks pregnant, and have lost about 5kg already, so don't want to loose anymore!!

Saladas with vegemite .

I wouldn't worry about nutrition too much, plenty of women can't keep anything down in the first few weeks and the babies turn out fine! Just eat what you can till it passes. And of course taking pregnancy multivitamins will cover a few of your dietary deficiencies, especially the all-important folic acid.

My nausea is just starting to fade, yay!!! I am 11 weeks.

First of all congratualtions.... I've been under a rock..lol...

Secondly, I have only just got back the ability to eat, and have lost weight in the process, but no-one seems too concerned by it....

I have only been able to eat carrots, cooked or raw... that has been the main thing....

And things like grapes, other fresh fruits...but cant be powdery, or slimy texture...

How do you go with fruits? Mandarins were a god send when I was pregnant with E. Really any kind of juicy fruit (not bananas).
With A fruit just didn't do it for me. Don't remember what I ate with her now...was different every day I think but I just ate what I could stomach because it wasn't just me I was looking after...there was E too.
:hugs: Let me know if you want something cooked but can't handle the smell of it cooking in your house. I'll make it for you and bring it up.

Chicken soup ...my mum had to cook it for me as I was just too sick. I was vomitting all the time and couldn't stand the smell of rice cooking or raw meat.

Just a plain clear sort of soup -onions, chicken, carrot and potato I think it was. If I could stomach it I would dip a bit of bread.

Try avoid fatty foods...if it gets too bad talk to your doc. My ob prescribed me zofran (I think that is what it is called) to help with the nausea on the days that I could take no more, expensive but needed on those few days where I could take it no more.

Hope it eases for you soon!

I didnt have much MS but Elevit made me feel worse so I switched to a blackmore's multi.

Hot chocolate also worked well for some reason.

I was able to keep down Iced coffee, and that seemed to line my stomach....I went through all sorts of phases of food that I could eat when I had MS. What worked in week 6 & 7 didn't always work in week 9 or 10.

If the thought or smell of eating a particular item doesn't make you gag, try it.

Please don't worry too much about nutrition at this point of time, just try to keep something down. (easier said than done!). I'm 5 weeks pregnant today and last time my MS kicked in a 6weeks and 1 day....so I am stuffing myself full of good stuff for the moment, incase MS is bad again this time round.
Good luck.
