Hi All,

My baby Jade is 8 months old and used to sleep from 7pm to 6.00 / 6.30.

She has all of a sudden been waking every morning at 5.00!!! This has been going on for a week and a bit.

I have tried leaving her in her cot but she just keeps crying out - not distressing just wanting to come and have a feed or wake up or whatever. I have also tried feeding her and putting her back to bed and also bringing her into our bed but all of the above have not seen her go back to sleep.

Any suggestions?????

My DD started doing this at roughly the same age and it still continues. Very rarely she will have a little drink and go back to sleep or take the dummy and go back to sleep but more often than not she wakes happy and babbling and definitely ready to face the day. This can happen anywhere between 4.30 and 5.30 ususally.

I guess you just roll with it and see what works but I will be keeping an eye on this thread for the magical solution as well.

Sorry to be of no help at all! :p

My dd used to do the same thing at about that age. I just popped her in her cot to play & went back to sleep until she would wake me again when she was tired.

same thing happened to me. she used to sleep through from 10 weeks, then suddenly at 18 weeks, she started waking through the night at any time. i just BF her because i couldn't be bothered doing anything els about it.. anyway, then it started becoming 5.30 or 6 waking ,and that is too early for me, so i wanted to teach her to sleep longer. first of all, she would have a dirty nappy and i would have everything in her room to change her quickly in the cot and in semi darkness. then i decided to try a loose version of controlled crying. i was all psyched for it, but like magic she decided to start sleeping through til 7.15am at the same time i tried to start it. i think i went through one morning of controlled crying and that was it. this happened at about 7 months. it was a very long stage of waking but she outgrew it.
can i add, the stage of waking might have finished earlier but we were experiencing a lot of upheaval; moved out of our house, temporarily stayed at a friend's while DH was interstate for 6 weeks and then moved interstate into a new house. things likje this take their toll on children.
everything is settled and has been since she started waking after 7am.

My DD2 did this for a while but I just started putting her to bed half an hour later and she started sleeping an extra hour to hour and a half the next morning.
