No, but my body did.

I STILL wake up at least twice at night to pee, even though my two now sleep through.

Bugger, I was waiting for the chance to have a proper nights sleep for ages.

No, but my body did.

same here, in the last mth or so of each pregnancy I didn't sleep much at all, just couldn't get comfy or anything, so I think it was my body preparing myself mentally for less sleep

I woke lots when I was pregnant but it didn't prepare me for the horror that was sleep deprivation for years to come.

My boy would wake within 2 seconds of me putting him down, he would only sleep upright on my belly/front for months :hair: he's only just recently started having his day naps in a bed as opposed to in my arms.

I should have spent my pre-labour sleeping, but it was just too painful. I think I was awake for almost 4 days before I had him

when I say the last mth I did mean from about 33wks with DS2 and from about 30wks with DD, had them about a mth after that lol

hope you get some rest soon, especially if your only around 20wks, its a long way to go till 40

that is normal . I felt exactly the same. The last 5wks of my pregnancy couldnt sleep properly to uncomfortable. Sometimes i would be up at 2am just could not sleep. Definately could of been a way of our body preparing itself for mother.

otherwise no I never thought about the sleepness nights or even labour. Well this was a big wake up call lol

like others i am harldy getting sleep at this stage lol..

but out of interest, is there actually any way to "prepare"?

cause i think i'll be exaughsted by the time baby gets here, so staying up wont get me used to it lol

i dont think thats gonna work lol

i may be "used" to being tired i wont be coping with it any better:laughing::laughing::laughing:

By the time the baby comes i'll already be over it!

as it is i wake up every hour or so to pee, and i never sleep more then 4 or 5 hours a night. does that count?
oh and i'm sleeping sitting up half the time for my back pain, so i'll be fine to just pop baby on to feed and fall asleep in my nursing chair (i'm joking, i'm joking!)

My youngest is now 18 months and she still wakes at least twice a night. My actions during the night are like a robot..switched on...switched off.
If my children spend the night at Nanna's and I can sleep throught the night, I will wake up in the morning and feel really quite strange! :)
If a pregnant woman asks for my advice about sleep etc, I just smile! :p

I found comments about 'preparing for sleepless nights' when I was pregnant very unhelpful. I heard so many horror stories when I was pregnant like 'I didn't sleep through the night for 9 years straight' ... so unhelpful. When I was pregnant I just got sleep whenever I could and given that exhaustion was a big part of my pregnancy it was a lot of the time!

Just stay as well rested as you can ... that's the only advice I'd give pregnant women.

I woke up to pee constantly when I was pregnant but by the end I was just about doing it in my sleep - the ensuite was a short stumble from the bed

Can't say that really prepared me for nearly a year of getting up 4 times a night to DS (and often more).

People tell you about sleep deprivation, but honestly it didn't really register for me until I was dealing with that and a two year old all day

From about 1/2 way through my pregnancy, I began waking constantly. I would stare at the ceiling for hours at end trying to get back to sleep. I had to pee ALL THE TIME too, that didn't help. So I guess my body was preparing me for everything. I remember it would take anywhere from 2-6hrs to get to sleep everynight. Not to mention lovely DD kicking the C$%P out of me pretty much 24/7! I don't think that helped much!

once i get past 20 weeks my body does it for me. restless legs, leg cramps, belly too big, baby kicking all night, bladder decreasing in size... all the lovley things that keep you awake all night long:rolleyes:
