As the title says, do you generally give your child/children a birthday party each year?
Every year since DD has been born we've had a reasonably big party with our family and friends. This year she is turning 5 and I just don't know whether to go ahead with the usual party preparations, or opt out this year. Things are a lot tighter $ wise for us so just having a small gathering with Grandparents is sounding enticing. But then I start to feel guilty. I know she would love to have all of her little friends over too. But growing up I only ever had about 3 parties my entire childhood. I didn't expect them either, and was happy enough.
So what do you usually do for your children's birthdays? Party each year, party alternate years, or no parties much at all?
It's every second year in our house. And both girls in the same year.
We celebrate each birthday with dinner and cake and maybe an activity. But not a huge party.
My daughter had a 1st birthday party and 8th birthday party. My eldest son had a 1st birthday party also.

My DS didn't have a party this year, we just did a family gathering. He will have a 3rd birthday party though.
If you don't want to do one, I think its fine.
We just do family BBQ's.I am going to hold off big parties until the kids are around 5.
Growing up we always had big parties with all our friends,it was always at home with us running amock, heaps of party games and Mum always made a cake. But cutoff was age 10.
I think I will just do the same, and when they are older can do something special and a bit more pricey like a theme park with a mate.
So yeah...thats my plan:p

Both mine have had a big party for their 1st birthday, but just family for all the others so far.......I still do balloons and a special cake and 'party' food so it's a party to them!! I guess we are lucky to, in that none of our friends or siblings have kids yet so it is easy to have a small gathering.
Not sure exactly what we will do as they get older, but definately not a big party every year!

DD1 has had one every year so has DD2. Next year we will only have a 1st birthday party for Sean and then every 2nd year from there.
I love having kids parties so I may change my mind too ;)

Every 2nd year with DD1 one year and my twins the following year.
My twins turn 5 soon and we are just doing a picnic or something similar. They will get a party next year with all their new friends they make during their first year of school.
Every year for the past few years ,i say to my ds (no party this year,it's all getting too much).
Every year we have a party:D
 Thats the same in our house..
After 13 years of Parties though, next year there will be NO PARTIES:D.

My daughter had a 1st party with friends and family, and the next one will be after she starts school to invite her new little friends. But in between, I plan just to celebrate her birthdays with family. I feel that if I have big parties and invite everybody, it feels the same as just asking for presents, and with money so tight for everyone lately, it doesn't feel right.
