Do you think its embarrasing to go back to study at my age????(32) If i did, the course would have to be part time so could take 5-6 years...i would be late 30's starting a brand new career.....i have to admit im a little intimidated by it all.
Have any of you started studying again at such a late age?
Hi. I am 31 and I am going back to complete my Diploma in disability Services next year. The course will be full time for a year.

I don't think so. :) If you want to do it, go for it! You may be surprised how many "older" people go back and do study.... I have been with people who are 40, 50+ studying. I like how much real world knowledge I bring to my study, it kinda makes things easier.

When I did my VCE at night when I was 25, there was a lady in my class, she was 80 and finishing her VCE that year.
She thought she'd go on to do law.
She wanted to prove to her husband that she wasn't dumb for leaving school at 13
I figure you're better of starting now that wondering in ten years time about why you didn't do it sooner...
Nope never to old. My cousin is going back next year to study and she is nearly 40.

When I was at uni there were students in my class who were in their 50s. No one batted an eyelid!

I started at uni this year, I'm 29 and I was one of the youngest in my course:D Never too old mate just go for it!
I recently finished studying in my late 30s after deciding I wanted a complete career change and am currently waiting right now to hear if I have a job !! It could be the best thing you've ever done (besides becoming a mum of course!!).
I say go for it!
well as everyone else has already said...
not at all!
I started uni this year aged 22 and even I was worried about being surrounded by 18 year olds...
But there are so many students aged in their 20's, 30's, 40's, and probably some older!
And I've definitely noticed how well all the non-teenage students do, the maturity, experience and wisdom that comes with a few more years looks like it really helps them
good luck if you do! :)
oh and also my mum went back to uni when she was about 30, when I was toddler. She was able to take me with her to a lot of her classes, apparently I loved it and so did the other women in her course! :p

I'm 42 and doing a post-graduate degree part time.
At work we have had a number of people (mostly men) having a career change in their 30s and 40s who have done an undergraduate degree and then started work as a graduate.
DH's aunty did an Arts degree when she was over 60.
You are never too old to study IMO.
My DH is 37 and in the 3rd year of his arts/teaching degree.
No age is too old to go back to study. Actually, going back is study is what you SHOULD do when you get old.. (I'm talking old, old)... helps to stop Alzheimer's.
I say go for it!!
I went back to uni this year to do an Arts degree and I am 34. I had an exam today and I was far from the oldest in the room, probably average age really.
I plan on teaching at the end after doing a dip ed and I am not remotely worried about changing careers. I am actually quite energised and looking forward to the challenge.

I've never been to Uni before and started three years ago age 36, so No, never too old. Just takes some of us a while to decide what we wanna be when we grow up :D
It's going to take me about 7 years to complete.

As everyone has already said, NO not at all.. OK I am still young, but my mother went back to study a few years ago, and now has her Diploma of ....something..lol...brain blank.....
She was 40+ when she went back, at first she was nervous, but she has life experience that helped her, oh Dimploma of Community Services....
She needed people to believe in her, as she had been run into the ground for many years, but we knew she could do it..
You just have to believe in your abilities to achieve whatever you set out to achieve, and you will be fine...
Good luck with it all....

Definately not  You are never too old. I did uni straight from high school and I was the youngest in my whole class. A majority of the class that made it to graduation were mature age, and I mean in their 40's. Some ladies were in their 50's
Uni in many degrees has changed. Lots more mature age are entering, and IME they finish the course.;)
