So I'm planning my final menu for this weekend's 'do' and I just feel that something is missing?

Basically - we're dedicating our children (similar to Christening) as well as celebrating our DD's 3rd birthday, so there'll be a bit of variety in my catering.

So far:

Dips/veggie sticks/cheese/sundrieds/crackers etc (nibbles)
Home made mini chicken sausage rolls & sweet chilli sauce

Lunch
2 x 2kg rolled lamb, garlic & rosemary marinated (cooked on the webber)
Marinated chicken pieces (on the bbq)
Roasted mini new potatoes
2 HUGE salads - garden & pasta
Greek spinach triangles
Few loaves of nice bread

Kids party food
Mini party pies
Mini sausage rolls
Nuggets
Fresh popcorn
Rice crackers

Desserts
Trifle
Mango cheesecake slice
Pavlova (maybe?)
Birthday cake

Drinks
Bring a drink to share
Never ending supply of my homemade punch
Few bottles of wine/soft drink/juice etc

For the life of me I can't remember how many people we've invited but there'll be a few - esp considering there's a tonne of family anyway :o.

Just something seems missing??
Maybe needs another savory nibbly or something like a yummy rice bubble slice for the young (or young at heart :D) Or maybe another salad or something??

DH says I always over cater (true, it's the Greek in me and cannot be avoided, ignored or stifled unfortunately :o)

Anyway - your thoughts would be appreciated!!

I think you're missing the kitchen sink, Anna.

Kitchen sink is there - double one - with my grandmother insisting she be the one chained to it.
Heaven forbid she actually spend some time with the great grand kids

What about some fresh cold fruit...kids and adults alike always like a nibble on fresh fruit...you could do scewers :)..

Or if thinking savoury maybe one of those cob loaf dips where you put the dip inside the roll and you can just pull it all apart...

I think you menu sound fab

Wow, that's going to be a fantastic bash! The only thing I could think of was a fruit platter, but honestly, you have so much there I don't think anyone will be complaining ;)

You've got it covered I would say. It sounds like a lovely spread! If you really would like to add a bit more incase of huge numbers turning up, how about adding nuts to your cheese and cracker platter and a bowl of steamed green beans, baby carrots and broccoli for some vegie options along with the mains.

If there is any left over, a few doggie bags posted out to us starving BH members will solve that problem!! :D

That's what I'm missing!
I usually make a fruit porcupine (skewers sticking out of 1/2 a pineapple) and have a bowl of strawberry yoghurt to dip!

YAY!!! THANK YOOOOOUUUU!!!

OMG no joke I have to go buy a pack of cheap chinese containers because I'm notorious for not letting people leave without leftovers!

Kayte - ah heck, you're all invited! :D
Might have to buy a plane ticket and camp in my backyard though!
At least I could feed you for a few days after! lol!
