Im just wondering if anyone has any recipies for teething rusks. We are all allergic to wheat, so I cant buy them from the supermarket. :( We can have gluten, rye, spelt etc, just not wheat flour.
Any ideas would be appreciated! (I can substitute any wheat ingredients for something else so dont worry about that!)
Cheers! :D

Hi Becca,
I used spelt bread for teething rusks, you buy a loaf (preferably not frozen) cut into thick slices, then cut again into slices that baby can hold, I then brushed them with reserved water from cooking her vegies, put in a low oven for 45 minutes, turn for another 45 minutes and keep going until bread is hard. Leave stand on try and put into an airtight container. My dd loved them, she never had rusks from the shop. If you don't want to do this, you can buy spelt rusks, usually from organic shops.
Good luck

Ive never noticed them at health food shops or anything before! (I probably just havent been looking!).
Do you find that the bread burns?

No, I think it's because the oven is on such a low temp. One thing I did forget to say was to line the tray with baking paper, I just used a biscuit tray and if they are not hard enough after 1.5hrs in the oven, leave them overnight in the oven and do again the next day.
