Anyone tried it to help fertility or regulate your cycles?
Did it work?
Hi Vespera,
I haven't tried it personally but I have a very good friend who did it and got pregnant in the next cycle and she can't recommend it highly enough. Is this something you are considering?
I have been thinking about this also, I have had acupuncture before to help a problem in my wrist and found it worked... i was thinking about trying it out for fertility, I went off the pill about 9 weeks ago and havent had any type of bleeding or ovulation yet... ):
I serched on the web and found a great lady in SA who send a fair few emails to me with helpful advice ect on, although she is on the other side of town for me which is a bummer as it would take too long to get there all the time to see her so I will have to look closer to home. If anyone in SA wants her details PM me, she practices out at Hawthorn, (SA).
Check out this web page which you can find where acupuncture clinics are located: http://www.naturaltherapypages.com.au/
I'd been trying for almost a year to get pregnant with my second child. A friend of mine recommened acupuncture. I had one treatment and was pregnant the next month!
The friend who recommended it to me had major fertility problems. Her and her husband had been given only a 6% chance of having a child and were on the IVF waiting list. She got pregnant naturally after only 2 treatments of actupuncture.
One thing for sure it can't do any harm.

I'm a huge fan of acupuncture. I have used it regularly for spinal problems and find it to be quicker to work than physio. A girlfriend of mine is a chinese medical practitioner and works solely in acupuncture and is currently treating a couple of women for fertility with great results. Unfortunately though, she is in Melbourne, so no really practical from Perth!
Thanks very much girls :) I have an appointment for Friday at a place in the City. DH was a bit concerned when I told him (he hates needles) and politly asked if I minded if he didnt come *poor thing*
So I will report back Friday afternoon and let you know what happened, how I feel and in a months time if everything is back on track.
Thanks again :)

Wow! I'd be interested to find out how you go Vespera. Do you have to have the acupuncture at a particular point in your cycle? Or any time?
Well my cycle is way off so they just told me to come in and they would see what they could do for me to get AF to come visit again :)
Will let you know
Nicole, thanks again for the info, have sent an email to your person so will see what she comes back with.
I'm so scared of needles but I'm willing to give it a go.
P.S Bubhub actually have listings of natural therapies and acupuncture people. Find the list here

My DH had acupunture when we were doing IVF and we believe it really helped us with his sperm count, we got pregnant on treatment a couple of months after he started having it! Alot of women seeking fertility treatment get it done and it seems to have great results! Cant wait to hear how you went!! Good Luck!!

I used acupuncture to improve my fertility (in conjunction with other chinese medicine remedies), and was pregnant after seven weeks of treatment. My acupuncturist believes it helped me because it made me relax. I reckon anything that gives you a bit of hope can't hurt. Besides, I found the whole experience very relaxing (not at all painful), so I quite enjoyed my time there.

I've got an acupuncture appointment today.
My cycles are very irregular... trying to get ovulation happening.
I've had acupuncture before for something else.
You don't feel anything.
Fingers , toes and fallopian tubes crossed it works.
I'm so scared of needles but I'm willing to give it a go.
Dont be worried, you dont really feel the needles at all, they are so fine. You just lay there, relax and let the needles do the work!

Can I ask where the needles go for each treatment (regulating cycles or fertility)? In your belly, on your back? Just curious as I think accupuncture sounds like a good idea...

I had needles in my feet and legs mainly. I used to have just a few in my stomach (two or three at the most), near the belly button!

Hi girls,
Just had my acupuncture. Going back for another session thursday morning.
Had three needles in my tummy, one each where my ovaries are and one in the center for "conception.
Also had a needle in each of my ankles (medial side).
There was a little discomfort.. but I figure if you can't put up with that.. why the **** are you thinking about going through childbirth!
will sit back now and wait for the big O.

Another question - do they look at your medical background or do you go in and say "this is what I'm having a problem with..." and they jab you?
Does that make sense?

After my acupuncture, last night my uterus was doing stange things.
Ihad a weird bloaty crampy feeling for about 5 hours as if someting was moving around ... not sure if it had anything to do with the acupncture or not.
Anyone else had this?
Well I had my first acupunture appointment today and it rocked! Sad to say I was VERY hung over (my mum is visiting at the moment - all blame falls with her!) but it went really well
He had a chat to me about what I needed, he said that my first 2 visits he will strenghten all aspects of my health to make falling preg easier and then he will work on increasing my fertility.
So 19 needles later, in my arms and legs and one on my hand to deal with my hang over :) I feel fantastic. The needles ddint hurt at all and you can feel him put them in but its more of a pressure feeling than a pin prick.
So next app is Monday and in the mean time he has given me some herbal remedys to sort out my cycle and make me more fertile - he didnt recommend vitex as he said it was too processed and his were more natural but we will see if they make a difference.

I've got bruises just on the one side of my tummy but not from the other.
I didn't have any for health reasons as I'm quite healthy & fit, just for the fertility.
Third appointment Tuesday,
Now at CD17, no ovulation or signs of ovulation yet.
Vespera: Let me know how long after your sessions you ovulate.
Let me just say I LOVE ACUPUNCTURE!!!!
Quick recap, I went to see an acupuncturist after no AF since Feb whcih is a problem as we are TTC. I have had 3 appointments with him and he gave me some chinese medicine tablets and told me to stop taking everything else (except folate) so I finished the tablets yesterday and *TA DA* AF came for a visit this morning so today is CD1!
