DD is 9.5 months old and has only 2 full teeth. (The two front bottom teeth). She got these at 4 months, so I figured she'd get the rest early too...
Only NOW has she started to teethe again...I thought there was FOUR coming in at the top row and was freaked out about how cranky she'd be...
Well, as it turns out, she has FOUR coming in on the top gums and 2 others coming in on the bottom. ALL AT ONCE! SIX TEETH!
Have been using the bonjela and Nurofen to ease discomfort, as well as cold water...she doesn't like rusks or teething rings...but is there anything else I can do?
I feel so sorry for her - it must hurt like hell!
poor little mite, my DD was kind of the same with her teeth, two came in, then nothing for awhile, then whamo, 4 came together, then a couple days later another 2. But they never really bothered my DD at all. Just unsettled at night a bit, tossed and turned, nothing that nurofen didnt soothe.
Maybe try a damp face washer for her to chew on?
I think my little man is teething too - I have been giving him a tommie tippie product (it is a little mesh bag with a handle - its very cool) - and I fill the little bag with ice... he LOVES it
he doesn't really like teething rings either - but he likes this thing - and it cost less than $10 from Big W ... I love it !!!

You can also buy those little mesh bag thingy's from target and kmart and sometimes woolies... I have one and my DD loves it when teething!!
DD had two teeth come in at the bottom ages ago... and then she got one little fang up the top... but now she has the other three at the top coming through all at once and its a nightmare. The only thing that soothes it is the little mesh bag! I strongly reccommend giving it a go!

DS is 9.5 months and has 8 teeth, he did by about 7 months (early teether). I used the brauers Teething relief which was pretty good. I like that it is natural instead of using panadol all the time.
Something I did too was peel a banana and put it in a bowl in the freezer for about 15 mons. Take it out and use a bar mix/hand held wizzer thingo and wizz it up. It makes the banana like ice cream. It is healthy and nice and cool on those sore little gums.
Goodluck, and remember teething doesnt usually last too long. :)

My DS got his first tooth on Thursday.
But he is teething again today....the full blown screaming.
I'm worried that the teeth are coming so close together that he is having too many meds close together.
Is it safe to give panadol 3 times day....with only a days break inbetween?
When he first tooth came he almost had two days in a row of pandol.
I've become an expert on when to give my DS the panadol and when to give just bonjela.....
So i know that i'm not overusing the panadol.
It seems that the screaming from one tooth lasts up to 24 hrs...thats 3 doses of panadol a day. I do wait to give it to him till he goes down for a sleep...if he is really screaming i give him the panadol.
Any ideas?

It doesn't hurt them at all to give them panadol for a few days in a row as long as you wait the recommended time between doses. I had to use it for up to a week for my boy after his 4 month needles (he had a bad reaction) and again a couple of months later when he had a bad cold. As long as you follow the instructions it is quite safe. You know it will come to an end as soon as those teeth pop up - so just do what you need to for the moment.
Let me guess - you are now another Mum who says all that research about teething not causing babies discomfort is rubbish? My bubba doesn't have teeth yet - and I am sure it must hurt them - that research must be done by people who have never had a bub!

Thanks for that....i never give the next dose any closer than the 4 hrs as explained on the bottle.
If you're above comment is about me....then NO. Why would assume that from me when i have been giving him panadol?
GAWD....i had braces when i was teen..they were excrutiating (sp?) and then my wisdom teeth....they were worse!
I totally support helping my DS as much as possible to get those teeth out as painless as possible. I'm not into torture!!!
Thanks for your help about the panadol.
Mrs Little & Son.
Mrs Little - I didn't mean you ever thought that teething didn't cause problems! I was being smart I suppose. I get really annoyed with people who say that teething doesn't hurt and I was hoping to evoke some support! Obviously I did!
I hope he settles down soon for you - I pray that my little boy won't have too much trouble when he starts, but I know that I will be armed with the panadol & the bonjella!

You have my support Tan & Will.
I DO believe teething is painful.....babies are too young to be that manipulative!!
However, i do believe that each baby has their own signs for teething and possibly their own pain threshold limit. So for some babies, they may not show signs of being uncomfortable...lucky them! Unfortunately, my DS takes after me....he's just as girly as me when it comes to pain...LOL.
DS didn't seem to get any temps with his first tooth...just lots of pain, a runny nose, runny-green poos, loads of slobber and rosey cheeks!
Tan & Will- there are other teething meds that can help too, so when u've had enough of bonjela and panadol, you could try the others (Brauers, hylands tablets...just to name a few). I've tried brauers...it's good for when they are just starting to teeth....i haven't found it helpful during the peak of pain or when the tooth is about to come out.
