View Full Version : Pram/ baby friendly activities in the Mountains
Can anyone suggest any pram/ baby friendly activities and walks in the Blue Mts? I know there is a pram/ wheelchair accessible bushwalk in Blackheath but are there any others?
Is there a cinema with a bubs session? Any other suggestions for entertaining myself and a 6 month old baby? I am happy to drive anywhere in the Mountains area as DS sleeps really well in the car.

Hi Larski!
Im not sure of bubba activities in the mountains but would be interested in catching up with you and others in the mountains when we move up there in Dec. It would be great meeting others with bubs as i dont anyone with bubs up there. I know theres now an indoor playcentre in the Katoomba aquatic centre. Im not sure of the age groups for that though.

Pram friendly walks in Mountains - few and far between; especially if you are referring to bushwalks.
Baby friendly activities - again, few and far between. There are a number of mothers groups and playgroups around, but I don't have their contact details (sorry haven't had a bub for 10yrs so a little out of practise).
The 'cinema' in Katoomba does not do bubs sessions - during the day it mainly caters for the tourist dollar atm but after the renovations - who knows? Glenbrook Cinema may be different but you'd have to contact them directly.
The "Kids Kingdom" at Katoomba Aquatic Centre...well I can't find any information on the Blue Mountains City Council website - save for the operating hours; but from what I've seen it's more suited to toddlers up (similar to the Maccas type playlands).
From what I can see in all the years I've lived in the Upper Mountains (my entire life) there's very little that actually provides entertainment to families with young kids - you generally need to make your own or tavel into the larger towns ie Penrith/Bathurst.
I'll make a few enquiries with local organisations and see what I can't come up with - as I said, it's been some years since I've had to entertain a toddler, and with another one around the corner, there's no time like the present to learn what might have changed...:)
Hi JaydensMum, how lovely to be moving up there is Dec - keep in touch!
Thanks Floodprincess for the info you gave, I really thought there would be more available. But I didnt even know Glenbrook had a cinema! Do let me know if you find out about anything else.

Im so surprised how little there is available in the mountains for young families. Ive noticed more people are moving up that way so maybe things will change with the more people moving.

Hi Ladies!!
How are we all going?
I must apologise - have been very slack in getting information regarding pram & baby friendly activities in the Mountains.
I haven't forgotten, just been snowed under at work and home....will try to get some decent information in the next week or two and get it out.
Hope you are all well...
