I'm wanting to make up some nappies for my new niece or nephew as a gift. I'm torn between making some AIOs or some contours with a couple of covers. They have to be easy for my SIL to wash because she doesn't follow instructions and will insist on using Lux to wash them hence me leaning towards the contours (I'd make them with 2 layers hemp and 2 layers of microfibre with flannel outter then PUL covers). But because she really hasn't much idea about MCNs I was wanting to make it really easy for her and thats why I haven't even considered AI2 or pockets. What would you prefer out of the 2? And what would you recommend for someone like my SIL?

yeah i was thinking of getting some of the embroidered minkee or fleece from cheeky bots to make them. I'm not sure she'd look after it too well though. Might be better off sticking with a printed PUL.

I'm only a newbie to MCN and I must say after using both I prefer the AIO2 much easy to dry and use even DH has no problems using them.

My biggest problem with the AIO or AI2 is that I use suedecloth for the lining. I know what she's like and no matter how many times I would tell her not to wash it in Lux she would and it would ruin it. That is unless I just use flannel for the lining but I'd prefer not to do that with that sort of nappy. Now I'm starting to wonder if I'm not better off ordering some bamboo towelling and making a few fitteds and a cover. Or even just using cotton towelling because little ones are changed so often anyway.

Now I'm just confusing myself even more!!!!

OK just had a thought. Would it work if I made a cotton towelling fitted with 3 full body layers, 2 cotton and one microfibre and the same for the insert?? So 6 layers in all???
