Hi all,

I took my boys to the local show today and they had a big blow up chicken. Obviously got mr 7's attention and he wanted to go on it. He climbed up the top and slid down a few times then comes to me and shows me his tummy. He has a friction burn on it as he decided to slide down feet first on his tummy and his shirt rode up. Poor little bugger is in a bit of pain. I have put sorbolene cream on it and put him to bed. I was wondering - Is there anything beside Panadol/Nurofen that I can give him or what should I put on it to make him feel better. Mummy cuddles just aren't cutting it at the moment.

Hopefully someone can help. This is the best place to ask.

Thanks in advance.

Joanne.

Hi Joanne,

Sorry to hear about your lad - friction burns are the worst

Lucas' Paw Paw ointment is just lovely, for a myraid of ailments.

Also, if you have an Aloe Vera plant, snap off a leaf, peel open and rub the flesh/jelly on it.
You can also buy commercial preparations of Aloe Vera that are also very effective.

Aloe allegedly has wonderful healing and antiseptic properties and is also very cooling - wonderful for any burns.

Good luck, hope he bounces back soon.

Oh, poor little lad.

Just to warn you, sorbolene cream is a great moisturiser - but it stings on dry or damaged skin. Doesn't actually do any damage, but does sting. So I would personally use something different!

Hope your little boy feels better tomorrow!

I have to second the Paw Paw ointment suggested by serenitynow.

I've been suggested it by a Nurse who worked in the Burns Unit at the Children's Hospital in Brisbane. (We didn't go to the hospital to meet her).

Apparently it is also fantastic for nappy rash.

Thank you very much for your suggestions. He did say when I put the Sorbolene on that it stung a little. I feel so bad now. :( I will get some paw paw ointment this afternoon for him.

I knew I would get information that I needed here. :smiliedance:
