View Full Version : Frogs
We just got a green tree frog, can anyone suggest what else to feed them besides crickets, i went to our pet shop and they said crickets but there surley has to be something else?
i used to catch moths, flies for mine and feed them them meal worms, they do flies, I used to pop them in the fridge to slow them down so i could put them in the tank without them getting away, i lvoe frogs they are a great pet, you can also get powders to feed the crickets or dust thme in I think
If you're not sure and cannot find a caresheet on the type of frog you have, always start with crickets.
Crickets are easy and basic. Most frogs and toads will eat all sorts of bugs and wiggly jiggly things that most people would cringe to see crawling on their bedroom wall at night... so if in doubt, start with crickets, and add anything else you find them interested in eating. The big fatties sometimes eat goldfish and guppies, and some will even eat mice!
As for teeny tiny frogs, you can try baby crickets or flightless flies or even live bloodworms placed in an upside down milk-cap (or some sort of shallow dish that has a bit of water for the worms.
hope that helps
if u need anything else related to Aquatic pets give me a yell
Sorry for the double post just wanted to add whatever you do , do not hand feed ur frog and also there is a premium food for frogs and newts called JurassiDiet
Yeah I used to have them and you can feed them flies and bugs. The only thing is they'll only eat live prey so unless you're going to catch them yourself, pet shops tend to just have crcikets as they're easy to breed.
