We plan on having a BBQ tonight and I want to pop sum chicken satay on the grill. Right!!! Why do my satay stick always burn? Am I doing something wrong?:o
Any suggestions would be appreciated....:)

If you are making them yourself soak the stick in water for a while (at least5-10mins) it stops them burning but with the bought ones I have no idea sorry (unles you can dip the stick bits in some water just before you pop them on the BBQ)

We are making them ourselves. I have tried the water trick in the past and they still burn:confused: maybe im not soaking them long enough.

a few things.. as PP said, soak them in water before you thread them, try metal ones, wrap them in foil (just the ends, esp. good if you buy ready made satays) or my very very fav.. get some rosemary stalks, strip off the leaves and use the stalks as skewers - adds an awesome flavour! (for chicken I use whole lemongrass stalks too)
ETA - you need to soak them for at least an hour on my experience

as jag5000 said the bamboo skewers have to be soaked for at least an hour or more before cooking them otherwise they will burn
