We have been advised by numerous people to buy a vibrating rocker as a settling tool. Does anyone have one of these and if so, how did you find it?

Would you recommend buying one?

Any feedback much appreciated, thanks

Belinda:)

We've bought a vibrating rocker but no bubs in it yet and now that we have it my only concern is, will bubby want to be in all the time ?!!?! hopefully not!!

hmm I have one the vibrate is one setting only...It's pretty gentle doesn't settle Eliza but she'll chill out in thr rocker with it on gazing at her toys long enough for me to shower n get dressed lol

We have the love n care royal rocker fron babies galore $109 I think

I was given one, and while it worked pretty well, it didn't offer anything that can't be done by you. I wouldn't go out and buy one personally. A rocker, yes, but a vibrating one.. meh.. probably not. Personally, if I hadn't been given one I would have just got one of those bouncy ones, the ones you would bounce with your foot.

But that's just my opinion and with my baby. Who knows the next baby might really like it.

we have a rocker/bouncer with the vibrate and it was great with DS #1, it really helped to settle him !
but ds#2 cant stand it on!

Its not a bad idea to have one, if it helps then great and if not.. well, you dont have to turn it on, you just use it as a plain rocker/bouncer

the vibrating function on bellas bouncer made it shake too 'violently' when she was a newborn so was never used, then when she got heavier it never settled her anyway, I think she liked it.. but wasnt fussed about it really. We've got a fisherprice ocean wonders bouncer

My sister had a vibrating rocker with her DS & you could change the speed of it as they get bigger. She said it worked really well for settling. She would feed him then pop him straight in there & he would go straight to sleep.

I was given a vibrating one by my work mates and Kailah hates it! Some think it helps with wind but all it did was make her throw up everywhere every time the vibrate was on. Personally I wouldn't go out and buy one, but others I know swear by them, guess it really depend on the baby too:rolleyes:

i borrowed one for that unsettled period in DD's early life., you know the late arvo to evening unsettledness.........DD had it until she was 15 weeks old. it was ok , it worked sort of, but it was so loud we couldn't hear the tv over it, just it bubbling away......... but the best thing i ever saw was the baby bjorn bouncer because it starts to bounce at the slightest movement and baby seems happy in it. it is $190 approx. and i didn't find out about it until DD was nearly over it, but 'next time' i will definitely want to try that.

DD was given one to borrow for a while...but personally, I found it a waste of time and space and gave it back after a short while. It didn't work any better than a regular rocker...it just needed batteries and cost a whole lot more!

I'd also be wary about getting one if there's a chance you'll have a big baby...DD was born 10lbs 4oz and quickly got too heavy for rockers..even before she could sit up on her own. It really sucked because she then had no "chair" to sit in! (Most allow up to 9kg).

we were given one by a relative as my cousin had out grown it and we found DS only got to use it for a few weeks and he ddint like the vibration. so i put it on freecycle and a lady expecting her 2nd bub took it :)

I have a vibrating rocker and my bub never liked it! We brought a swinging rocker and she loved it! The only problem was that she was getting used to it and it was the only way she would go to sleep. I decided to wean her off it because I had visions of a 2yr old toddler wanting to go to sleep in it!

We don't have a vibrating rocker but we bought an automatic baby swing (Fisher Price) when Leo was born and are still using it to this day (he is now 8 months old and unfortunately about to grow out of it!). I found it great for when Leo wouldn't settle - it has quite a few different settings with music, waves, etc and some lights and a fish mobile so plenty to keep them occupied when they are a bit older. He loves it.

I have just bought one and found that the vibrations dont sooth James at all! Oh well, but I do know he doesnt like being in a rocker full stop, so that could be the problem.

I am glad I got a multi purpose rocker, swing thingy, at least if one does not work, the other combination might, thanks ladies, I was feeling so bad about not getting a vibrating one and jsut a normal one.
