I've had a lot of people over the past few weeks make me feel like cr@p and anyone else care to join in?:hair::mad:

I treated myself last night and got my hair done for the first time in 8 months. I had been putting it off for a while as I really can’t justify paying $150+ to get my hair done, plus we really can’t afford it.

I had 2 of the young hairdressers drying my hair and they were talking about some local night club and asked me if I knew where it was – of course I didn’t, I’m a mum and don’t go to nightclubs. So, then one of them said ‘Oh, well, what school do you go to?’ I was in shock, I didn’t know what to say so I laughed and said ‘Um, I don’t go to school, and haven’t for a long time’. So then she asks my age and I told her, 26 with 2 kids. She was embarrassed and tried to make me feel a little better by telling me I should see it as a compliment. Now, that’s fine but when your 147cms and ‘look’ young it’s not the greatest feeling walking out in public with 2 young children and getting frowned upon by mostly middle aged women.

So, I was at the counter paying and was trying to have a little joke with on for the ‘senior stylist’ (middle aged woman) about what had gone one. I told her that I had just been asked what school did I go to ha ha ha and she said ‘oh aren’t you pregnant’. Well didn’t I feel like ****. I just said to her ‘NO, I’m just FAT!’ I was just gob smacked to say the least.

I was so shocked, embarrassed and upset. I go out and do something for myself for the first time in months, pay these idiots $180 to be insulted. AND to top it off they didn’t do a very good job on my hair.

Should I say something? Write a letter perhaps?

:hugs:Hugs 2 u.
I would complain, even if it doesn't get you anywhere it might make you feel better. People in those industries usually have a code of ethics, they should be making you feel good about yourself.
$180  what did you have done???

I'd write a letter of complaint just to make myself feel a bit better. I always hate it when you spend $$ trying to make yourself feel a bit better but end up coming home feeling worse. Definately not what you want. :hugs:

 $180  Tell me about it!!!!! I was less than impressed. When I phoned to make the appointment I asked how much it would be and they said we can't tell you over the phone, we will let you know before we start. So, they suck you in, let you know the price and of course when you’re sitting there ready to go you can't exactly walk out. Well little ol' me who never says anything didn't say anything. I should have, I'm kicking myself.

Oh, and I got 1/2, yes 1/2 a head of foils and a trim!!!!!!!!! 1 bl00dy cm taken off!!!!

It's ridiculous isn't it? I had a haircut recently, and it cost me $105 because apparently it was a 're-style.' She just cut in some extra layers that had grown out a bit... didn't do anything special... so I paid $105 for pretty much the same haircut just a little bit shorter.

What? Why? Certainly wasn't WORTH that much. (Next time I'm just going to go to "Just Cuts" or something... pay my $25 and be done with it:p).

Anyway, the pregnant thing would have upset me. The age thing would have probably gotten to me too if people were constantly thinking I was much younger than I was.

The bf was let down a bit recently... he got his haircut, and thought the "hot hairdresser" was cracking onto him... until she asked if he was in year 10 at school. He's not old, he's only 20, but I mean, that's 5 years older than she thought he was. :p

Ah well, least he got a cheaper haircut out of it (student rate rather than adult). Perhaps you should have gone with it... you could have gotten it cheaper! :p

I was a pregnant schoolgirl:p.

But that is just ridiculous! Even if you were, they shouldn't have treated you like that. I would write a letter of complaint to the head office:no:. If anything, it'll make you feel better, have a little vent.

You are not fat! Geez, if she saw me, she'd say I was pregnant with triplets

That is so rude. I mean, I know some people want to look young, but it's rude to guess a customer's age no matter what.

:hugs: that is shocking customer service.....word of mouth can be a killer for a business....i would highly recommend to everyone not to go there.
obviously not nice people

Thats very rude and a ridiculous price!!! I'd write a letter to the editor of the local paper!!

I'm sure you're gorgeous!

$180??!?!? what did they do put gold through it?

As for the young pregnant girl remark, I would just ignore it and not go to that hairdresser again. I got heaps of comments/stairs/whispers when I was pregnant, I have been told I look young too.

You said you were 147 cms - I am 149cms tall and 31. I am overweight and only wish I was mistaken for being pregnant! I get a bit tired :sleeping:of people thinking I am younger and I know it has to do with my height rather than my looks - so I know how you feel. It is really annoying!

180 dollars is the biggest rip off i have ever heard. im so glad my sis is a hairdresser i know they have to charge for time but my sis brought a big thing of dye for my hair it will last a few redyes and it only cost 14 dollars im sure they dont have to charge that much. as for the comments i like the local paper idea so rude and not called for.

I was asked if I was pregnant before when I wasn't. It was embarrassing but I think the girl felt way worse than I did! Now I AM pregnant... I bet she won't say anything next time she sees me:laughing:

As for the school thing... they were probably just trying to make conversation. I used to sell cigarette's at a newsagent and had this 'kid' come in and try to buy some. I said, "you have to be over 18" (I seriously thought she looked about 12!) Turns out she was HEAPS older than 18 and was pretty offended:o I felt so stupid!:(

I had my first bub at 22yo, Married and all and i remember at my first midwives appointment i took my little sister... 6 years younger... and she had her school uniform on, and the midwife said to her...
"are you excited about your YOUNGER sister
having a baby"

Some people should just learn to keep there mouths shut.
And $180 doesnt sound that bad to me. I have long hair and for roots, half head streaks, and 4 or 5 brown streaks underneath + treatment and blowdry costs me $150
and i go to a hairdresser ive been going to for years and get good prices off her.
But i love my hairdresser, if she had said those things to me i probably would take my buisness elsewear.

Aww Mel,

:hugs:it not nice when you just want to do something nice for yourself for a change and have a time out to feel like you again and someone brings down the whole experience.

I was actually looking at my split ends today (which was over 10 months ago) trying to work out why it's taking me so long to go back to the hairdresser and well you've just reminded me of my last experience with me being too young :ecomcity: and being kind of rude (not that blatently though)

I'd prefer it if I could have a kind of a calming experience where it's reasonably quiet with relaxation music on and they could do their thing quietly after i tell them whatI'd like and have exactly that done while I get vege out for a bit.

Yeah ok I'm dreaming but hey a girl can dream right:D

Now if I only I knew how to cut hair i'm sure a lot of women would prefer that to the kind of rudeness you experienced today. I hope you look and feel fabulous with your new cut and your hubby helps you know how fab you look too!:goodvibes:
