Hi,

My son was born just over 2 weeks ago and the pediatrician who saw him everyday in hospital at Flinders Private and was present at the birth told me to bring him in at two weeks for a check up.

When I called to make the appointment when we got discharged I was told he was booked up until the end of the year and it would not be possible. I don't know even how to go about finding another pediatrician and don't know anyone else with a baby. Are they as hard to get into as OBs?

Can anyone recommend a pediatrician anywhere from the city Southwards?

Try Dr Philip Munt, he treats at Franklin House at Bedford Park (just near Flinders) and also at Ashford hosp. You'll need a referal from your GP.

We got into Dr Munt within a week or two. He's very good and doesn't do hospital rounds anymore which is why you can get in so easily. He can be a bit blunt and tells it how it i, but at least you don't feel like he's not telling you stuff. His number is in the yellow pages under Paediatrians under docs or medical?? can't remember which.

good luck

My Daughters Paed was Dr. Nicolas Ricci - He has a lovely temperament and is easy to chat to about any issues you may have. I had my daugher at Burnside where he consults, but his rooms are on Melbourne St, Nth Adelaide, or I think he also has rooms at Salisbury? Was easy to get in to see him - Made my appointment 2 weeks from my phone call. HTH :)
