first prewash

Hi all of you most knowledgable of ladies!!!!

this may be a silly question but i'm just at the stage of prewashing my MCNs and i have some questions before i begin...

1. do you have to use detergent in the prewashes (the reason i ask is that i'm not going shopping again for a while and my current powder has built in softener which i hear is a no-no in the world of cloth nappy care!)

2. how many times do you prewash? and do they have to be completely dry before you wash them again?

No I don't use detergent when prewashing.

I prewash 3 times and no they don't need to be dried in between, just turn the machine on again.

thankyou so much- couldn't think who else to ask, everyone i know uses disposables

I throw mine in with the dirty ones too... so they get half the amount of detergent supposed to be used.

On the washes after that though (ie if they need 3 or 5) I don't add detergent. The machine finishes and I just put them straight back through again! :thumbsup:
