HPT - How early to test?

Hi everyone. Well I am 16 dpo according to FF and my temps are still up. This morning I did a HPT (1st Response brand) and got a BFN:thumbsdown:. How early can you usually get a BFP? I figured it should be showing up by now if I am. This is my second cycle on Vitex and I am wondering if that is why I am late? Hmm I guess only time will tell - but any advice would be great:)

I say test again in a couple of days, sometimes it takes a while for your hcg levels to rise, especially if it was a late implantation. Implantation normally takes place inbetween DPO 6 - 12. Did you have any signs of implantation? Do you have a link to your chart that we can check out? Mine is at the bottom of my signature if you want to have a look?

I got a BFP at 11dpo this time but have heard many times of people not getting one until after 14dpo...

This is my first chart (i was a bit slack before hand) and I only have a dotted line because I had EWCM a few times throughout my cycle. I thought I had ov pains on day 13 - but may not have been. I guess only time will tell what is happening :)

I've noticed on fertility friend that they actually pick the first testing day to be closer to 3 weeks post ovulation. I think by 21DPO you should be positive if you are going to be positive. But, as you've said, that assumes that you got the day of ovulation right. I don't recommend testing until a day or so before AF is due, and from what I've read of people's BFP's here, it's pretty rare before 11 DPO to get a BFP.

In order to share your chart you will need to go to your chart page on FF and then click on "sharing" which is about halfway down the left hand side of the page. You can then set up which charts you want shown etc.. it will give you the URL to your chart which you can then post for people to see

In regards to when to test.. I got my BFP at 14DPO I think but it was very very feint.. it started to get darker after that but I ovulated on day 11 which is probably why I had a pos+ so early. I would give it a few days and then test again

Thanks everyone - unfortunately AF ended up showing up :mad: Which means that this is my second 35/36 day cycle since taking vitex. Which is very strange because FF says I ovulated on day 16 - which means I have a 19/20 day luteal phase. I am not sure if it is a good thing or not. Thanks for all your advice and good luck with those BFP's!
