I am blessed in that DD1 has always been an excellent sleeper, sleeping through the night consistantly by 2 months of age. But, try as i might i can not get her to stay down one end of her cot. She sleeps in a grobag so she doesnt get cold, but rolls all arount the cot in her sleep. I was wondering if anybody know how i could encourage her to stay down one end of the cot? I cant see how i will ever get her into a toddler bed if she keeps moving so much.

You can't. :o

I did find my DS was more inclined to stay up the one end once I put a memory foam pillow in his bed. The pillow stayed put and was firm, he liked to have his head on it so that encouraged him when he stirred a little to venture back to seek out his pillow. :)

Maybe that might help?

Have you tried one of those anti-roll cushions you can get from target/kmart etc, not sure what age they are good with though.

They're meant for birth to around 6 mths.. :o

Buy a safe-t-sleep. They are brilliant. Excellent for when they start rolling as it stops them rolling on to their tummy.

i have no idea but if you work it out make sure you post here. My DD (almost 16mths) rolls around the cot all night long...from one end to the other and everywhere in between.

I have never used a pillow, but i guess its worth a go. She is old enough now that it would not be unsafe.
I will look at getting a safe-t-sleep if that doesnt work. They look like a good idea, im just not sure DD would appreciate not being able to roll onto her belly - i want to keep her down one end of the cot but it doesnt both me what position she sleeps in.

aaawww...let her roll!!!

DS2 is 2 in jan and still tosses and turns end to end and sideways and back again. His twin sister doesn't, and his older brother doesn't either. The three of them are in toddler beds!

I'd try a pillow, but wouldn't be too concerned about it. You might break her good sleeping pattern if you try to tie her in one place.
I thought those saftey sleep things were more for if for eg if you were travelling and didn't have a cot.

:iagree:

If she is sleeping well, why change a thing?? I think all babies roll and end up in different positions in their cots.

You were probably exactly the same when you were a baby and I'm sure you sleep in bed straight now!

There is another thing made by grobag which is basically a quilt and mattress cover that zips the quilt down three sides.

It would be more expensive but would last a lot longer than a safe-t-sleep which I think she is way too old for.

I use the safe-t-sleep, I don't put it on so tight that she can't roll. My dd 14mths has the ability to roll and even get in the crawling position but is unable to move up and down the cot.

There are quite a few people on here that don't agree with the safe-t-sleep as I have found but I have found it very effective for us. The reason I got it was DD would stand in her cot and not lay down to sleep regardless of how tired she was.

:iagree: Both my DS's have been movers in there sleep and DS2 still does at 15 months. I would not be to concerned about it at all.

I have the same problem with a little wriggler (posted on another thread) and I just put our little guy down an hour ago and as I was doing so I had a little brainwave. Tuck the growbag in and the end of the cot! I have a bumper at the top only, so I have moved it to the end of the cot which tightens the gap between the mattress and the bumper and I have just wedged the last inch or so of the growbag in there! I know he could get out of it if he really wanted to, but so far it seems to have been just be enough to keep him on his back until he fell asleep.

FiveInTheBed I am all for not restricting him, but the only reason I don't want to let him roll around is that he can only roll in one direction a this stage and has not worked out how to rest on his front so as soon as he rolls against the edge of the cot he is grizzling and I am having to get up through the whole night to resettle him on his back.

(PS Don't know why this is in bold-print. I am trying to change it, just so you know, I am not yelling.... :))

I too think there is not a great deal you can do short of the PP's suggestions. DD has always been a wriggler and still is (she's 2 in Dec) she has been in a single bed since 12 months (with a rail till a couple of months ago) and she moves all around the bed still in and out of the covers sometimes I go in and she is upside down with her bottom in the air other times she is up the top head on pillow sheets up. I jsut go in and move her back to the top before I go to bed and let her go.
But we live in darwin so keeping her under the covers is not an issue.

The safe t sleep can acctually be used for bubs up to 3 years old (the classic style one anyway) I think its great, it has saved me many sleepless nights. I stopped using it for a couple of months because I thought dd was ready to not use it, she was doing fine but then worked out she can stand in the cot and cry and not lay back down to go to sleep  lol so I have gone back to using it for now.
