Our NB is in cloth PT atm, been only using flat with him as Im scared to stain my MCNs. Ive used the MCN on him once but his poo has stained the insert. How do I get rid of the stain??

Also, any suggestions how to go about using cloth at night? I havent quite figure how to go about disposing his "waste" so it wont stink out the room.

Thanks for the help

hey
i used terrys from birth full time aand still do.
it never stunk out the room tho??
i use sard soap to wash bt hand and then a hot wash.
but if you want to be extra sure, tyou can buy liners and put them in the nappy and it ciollercts the poo and you just throw it away and there;s not such a big stain so ut';s easier tp wash.
hope that helps
oh, and fir night i leave the same terry on with a pilcher:yes:

You should flush the poo down the toilet, or rinse it off before you put it in the bucket

And have you tried putting the stained nappy out in the sun? Usually the sun gets rid of all the stains, it might take a couple of cycles, but it should work eventually

I don't know why but we don't get any stains

I rarely use liners. I just take the nappy off, quick rinse under tap, chuck in bucket. On wasing day I chuck the nappies in, I do a long cycle with pre-wash and I do it hot. Then I use a small amount of Aware detergent and hang in full sun.

There is some discolouration where the poo was in the nappy but 5 minutes in the sun (and doesn't even have to be full sunlight) and there is no hint of a stain.

As for stinking out the room .... it doesn't happen and DD is now 10 weeks old.

My NB nappies stained quite badly, too. I used the Little Squirt immediately after removal, then did a 10min soak in water before their pre-rinse - this unstuck the newborn 'curds' (!!). I found those bits would stick to the nappy throughout the whole washing process if I didn't do this!

Then the sun would get rid of the rest! :)

With night nappies - as newborns poo all night, a single night nappy isn't really feasible - so I'd lay out several boosted fitteds and covers ready to go on my living room floor (where I changed DS2 after night feeds) and it was all ready for me when I fed half asleep! This also kept DS2 as sleepy as possible.

Re: getting rid of the waste, have you tried sluicing it in the laundry tub?

Good luck!

I chuck J's nappies in bucket (J is breastfed) then in machine. The sun has got out all stains.

I like bamboo towelling for night with wool covers.

Places like kmart & target have nappy buckets with a good seal to keep the smell in. Usually I rinse the pooey nappies before putting them into the bucket but if they pooed in the middle of the night I would just put it straight into the bucket and worry about it in the morning. If the poo is mostly contained to the liner I don't bother rinsing the nappy - even though it is a bit yellow it comes out in the wash & then sun.

Are you dry pailing? I find that the smell is much less dry pailing - with my first bub I used to put them (terry flats) into a bucket of water and it got very smelly very quickly - I hadn't heard of dry pailing then.

I keep a supply of nappys folded with liner in place under the change table ready to go so that in the middle of the night I don't have to do too much. My nearly 5 month old now usually sleeps through but once or twice a week wakes for a quick BF & I no longer change her. Her pooey nappies are still pretty explosive and she only goes every 2 or 3 days so really explodes when she does but much better than every nappy change as a newborn.
