Ok so after alot of thinking and talking to my mum i have decided to use cloth nappies when my bub is born.
The thing is i dont have the faintest idea about them. What are the best to use?? Where do i buy them from? I want to buy online. I know how to wash them and everything.

Are you planning on using the old style terry flats or modern cloth?
Why dont you want to buy online

if you dont want to buy online then you are going to have a lot of trouble getting them. majority of them are sold online. and even those brands that sell IRL, they may not sell anywhere near you.

Well I'm only starting out too..
But there is a special on a nappy called a Baby Beehind (my favourite thus far) for only $18.75 per nappy.
Maybe give them a go, I am buying some. My first real nappy purchase. :o

for a newborn, terry flats and a good PUL or woolen cover (dont buy the old pilchers) would do fine but just very bulky under clothing. but as they get older, they arent highly absorbant and MCN's, IMO are much better. there really isnt a good brand, i think what works for some doesnt work for others but i would recommend baby beehinds for both fitteds and the all in ones or itti bittis for their all in 2's.

Hey love, there is a lot of information stickied at the top of the thread. I would say that would be the best place to start for information. There is heaps!! Also for the web address you can look in the review section of the hub and that will provide all those for you.
It can be very daunting when you start as you need to think about what sort of nappy you would like to start with. You have the flats and covers, fitteds and covers, pockets and inserts and the all in one nappies. Each style is really about individual preference. I would suggest you take a look at a few different online stores and order some samples (some stores offer a mixed type/brand set) just so you can look and see how they all work and touch etc.
I am planning on using flats to start out with and then moving into fitteds as the majority of my stash. I also have some AIO's for out and about nappies and to make Dh's life easier. LOL
Good luck with it all - just beware that once you take that first step into MCN you can get hooked!! I mean seriously addicted. LOL

Are you wanting to use terry squares or MCN's? do you know of the different types? do you prefer the sound of AIO's, pockets, fitteds, squares? there's heaps of options out there!

hi! my advice would be to go with an all in one (aio) osfm (one sixe fit most) that way you wont have to size up when bub grows. save you heaps!
there are heaps of sites listed in the bubhub directory and some even offer discounts/bonuses for bubhubers!!!

My advice is to read read READ! You'll probably fairly quickly figure out what style you like the idea of, then brands, whether you want sized or OSFM (most find that sized fit better, though OSMF more economical) and what material you think you'd like to use... lots of questions, and if you want to ask any more, cloth mums are usually more than happy to answer them... and give opinions :D (always good!!)

prefolds with a cover (either wool or PUL) are sometimes a trimmer fit for newborns. Then they can be used as stuffers/inserts in pockets later. They're also pretty easy to sew if you are a sewer, so that makes them cheaper as well

Its hard to tell whats best for the bub. We're still going thru the experimental stage with our bub, mix of flats, OSFM & sposies (i know im bad). Sposies are mainly for nighttime when I really cant bring myself to deal with the nappy half-asleep. Flats are good as they take no time to dry. We got 3 diff brands of OSFM and some fit better than others as bub has skinny skinny legs. I love bub's bum in cloth, its so squishy & cute!!
