Hi

I would love to hear from anyone that has had a large gap between labours. Wa the second labour like a first labour all over agian, or was is quicker as a second albour is generally supposed to be?

I have had 2 c-sections since my natural labour and am keen for a VBA2C. I am due on 20th Dec.

It would be great to hear from anyone that can help me out with this ? as I have no idea what to expect!

Also, I have to travel over an hour to hospital and would like to arrive as dialated as possible.

Thanks

Hi there
I had a 9 and a half year gap between labours and I too was scared about going back to square 1. It was a really great experience, my body knew what exactly it needed to do and labour was only 4 hours long. My previous 2 were 3 hours and 3 and a half hours. Of the three I have to say that this was the best one hopefully yours will be too

I had an 11 year gap between my 2nd and 3rd and i was scared silly lol:o
But mine got alot quicker... my 2nd was 2 hours long and my 3rd was only 20 minutes:eek:
I am now pregnant with number 4 so really not sure how long this one will be.
Im due on the 16/18 December:)

That's what I'm wondering too.... my first labour was great, easy, no tears, and shortish (contractions started up at around 10am, and bubs was born just before 1 pm) so not only am I thinking about the 10 year gap between them and wondering whether my body will remember what to do, but I'm also a bit worried that my second one will be a lot faster (as they often are), and since I'm a lot older and less supple, maybe this time I'll tear?

I guess there'sonly one way to find out LOL

LOL.... yeah, I've warned my middy and doula both that my last labour was fairly quick so if I call and say come over they better blardy well listen to me hehe. I had a dream the other night that had given birth before remembering to tell DP to call them, and they walked in hours after I had my babe in arms. Hopefully not a portent of things to come.

There are 16yrs between #1 and #4 with a 10yr gap between #2 and #3. My first labour was 4hrs, 2nd was 10hrs then 10yrs later my 3rd labour was 1hr. 18 months later my labour was 1hr 35mins. I was packing myself with #3 as it had been so long but it was quicker than I could have ever imagined. The only downfall was that it was so quick that my body went into shock and I lost consciousness for about 15mins. Fortunately that didn't happen with #4.

Good luck and I hope you get the dream birth you desire.

i cant speak from personal experience

but my mum had a 10 yr gap between my younger borther and sister

it was the easiest labour out of the 3 she experience

and from what i heard it all happened pretty fast as she wanted an epi but it was wayyy too late for it.

I had 7 years between mine. The second was much quicker and much easier than the first. I remember my Mum made a comment about it being like a first time labour and birth and the midwife said that it wasn't the case at all - that your body never forgets regardless of the time lapse.
