Ok so I've been using our new cloth nappies & I love them, but I'm not sure what to do with the wipes once Ive cleaned their bum? What does everyone else do?

Ive been emptying the poo in the toilet, and then scrubbing the remaining stains off in the laundry tub with a dish brush (is this ok?). I haven't (yet) switched to cloth wipes so not sure what the best way of disposing the wipes is.

Please share your tips with me :D

I dry pail mine.
drop all of the solids into the toilet if needed i rinse the nappy under hot water in the laundry sink and then put it into my nappy bucket and wash as usual when i do the load of nappies.
Cloth wipes i washed out a formula container and put the used cloth wipes in there while changing the nappy and then when i go into the laundry to put the nappy in the bucket i put the wipes into the nappy bucket too and wash them with my nappies.

hope that makes sense lol

i only occasionally use sposie wipes with cloth nappies....but i think its easier to use cloth wipes with a cloth nappy, as then you can just dry pail it with the nappy. but if i am using sposie wipes, which isnt very often, i just flush them down the toilet with the solids. i know its probably not the right thing to do but i do it anyways. but i rarely use sposie wipes when using my cloth nappies anyways.

Get some velour wipes. You will not turn back they get all the yucky bits off much better than the sposie ones.

I'm intending on swapping to velour wipes too, but for now they end up in a nappy sack and in the bin... not that much, especially compared to when we were chucking out disposies :D

I am planning on using cloth wipes but also have flushable wipes for those occasions when I do end up using them. You can use the Wiggles brand wipes or the Kleenex wipes. They both are flushable which I think is were the waste material belongs anyway.

For what you are using now, I think once you have taken the waste off them you are able to put them in the bin after that as it is only the waste that shouldn't be binned.

i used to put my sposie wipes in a nappy sack & throw them away.
I now use cloth wipes & LOVE them. Just rinse them off & dry pail them until washing time

I wouldnt be scrubbing them with anything you dont need to & will only ruin your nappies.

All you need to do is dispose of the poo & the dry pail ... All will be fine come wash time because once washed & dried in the sun you wont even know there was a stain !

As for wipes I only use facewashers which are left inside the nappy until wash day !

I use toilet paper to wipe of the majority of the poo of both the nappy and the baby, as it's easily flushed.
Then I use a wet cloth wipe and just dry pail it with the nappy.
If we are out and about I just bundle the pooey wipe up with the nappy and deal with it when we get home.

Im getting some gr8 ideas ladies
I think I will use the velour wipes and keep some flushables on hand just in case. It just seemed kinda pointless for me to use sposie wipes, n then put them in a nappy sack.

reallytee - ive been scrubbing the extra poo off with a dish brush, cos not all of it comes off when i empty it in the toilet, theres always still some stuck on there. Am I supposed to leave those bits still on there n dry pail then wash??

when i switched to cloth i switched my wipes too

i now use velour wipes.. so lovely

i was only using disposable wipes when i went out but now i jsut chuck some velour wipesin a snaplock bag and off we go

if you dont just have the money just yet for nice velour wipes.. grab some cheapy facwashers from a cheap store, kmart, supermarket and use those

...as for stuck pices of poo.. buy a little squirt.. its a hose attachment that connect to toilet..very simple to install and you can squirt off all the poopybits into the toilet bowl.. I love mine! no moe scaping poo off with a spctular for me.. and im not a fan of disposbale liners.. to me that defeats teh whoel purpose of saving money and the enviroment.

Depending on the amount of poo on them, I usually just throw them straight into the nappy buckets.

If there is a fair amount of poo on them, I'll squirt them with the nappy first! (I usually lay them against the nappy to help the process!)
