hey everyone, im 25 weeks and 4 days pregnant and i don't know anything about contractions and your water breaking , havn't yet thought about hospitals etc
have my baby lists and hospital lists but thats about it, i havnt really got any female role models around me at this stage. never really had a mum have been on my own since 10 met my fiance around 15 been with him for nearly 5 years now. and he cant wait to be daddy:smiliedance:
hes been spoiling me rotten, even more so the closer i get cause hes been having constant nightmares that im not going to make it through childbirth. im 18 and have always weighed around 30 maybe 35kgs now im around 45kgs have only put on a few here and there but my doctor sais everything is fine im all healthy , infact healthier than i have ever been. i also found out i was anemic in early stages of the pregnancy so that helped me eat alot better and be aware of it. im due around 24th august but my fiance and i still believe the doctor could be alittle out on how far along i am, cause of my size etc.
i don't know what to think about my fiances nightmares  now he has me a little scared:eek:

Firstly congratulations and don't panic  Babies are born every second of the day and mums seem to know what to do when it is time

Are you going to a hospital to have your baby? If so enrol in their Antenatal classes - they are wonderful for letting you and your partner know what can / may happen in labour. Also ask them about breastfeeding classes.

Try not to listen to too many bad stories - if you are like me with an overactive imagination you will lose waaaaay too much sleep - which you really should be stocking up on:laughing:

Remember this one fact - if if was so bad, why do people keep going back second, third, fourth etc times? My labour was 15hrs and the minute it was over I asked my husband could we go back and do it all over again ASAP.

Focus on positive things - like the gorgeous baby that is the ultimate reward.

Childbirth is a scary thing but you will be in the safest place possible. All the Midwifes/obs/Drs are highly trained and deliver heaps of babies all the time. Every day they are faced with emergencies so they will know exactly what to do if something should happen.

I suggest booking into a hospital. That way you will get to met the midwifes/Drs and you might start to feel a bit more comfortable. Also if you ask they should be able to give you a tour of the delivery suites/maternity wards.

If you are worried about anything ask the Dr and dont leave until you have the answers you are looking for. Thats their job. I also recommend asking about pain relief so you know what to expect... or you can ask me, i had it all

Definitely book into a hospital. Im totally clueless but it was nice to have my first antenatal visit and see that the midwife was REALLY helpful and nice. :)

Hi
Am so happy for you, sounds like you have a wonderful partner and it's great you are both so excited about your new arrival to come. And don't worry about your partner's dreams. It's completely normal to dream about something that you think about most of the day! You'll probably find yourself having dreams about giving birth as you get closer to your due date, I know I did! I would definetaly book in for a visit at your local hospital. It's about this time they like to see you and it'll be good for them to start a record of you now. When it comes to giving birth, just read books or magazines, visit websites, anything that gives you useful info that will help you. But your labour and delivery will be unique to you so when the time comes just go with it. Your body knows what to do. All the best!

Hey

I was 18 when i had my first bubby (19 now) and i didn't know anything about contractions and waters breaking or any thing like that and i didnt have any one that i felt i could ask, Once everything got going my body looked after me and all my worries kinda got forgotten, our hospital was really busy so its best to book as early as you can and all the antenatal classes filled up really quick too (we missed out on going) If you want all the "gory" specifics of havin a bub feel free to PM me, would love to be of any help!! (my belly was really small as well, people kept guessing i was about 5 months along when Ella popped out)

 Hey congratulations on your first bundle!!! Don't be scared of childbirth... I know that may seem hard to do but i was your age when i had my DD... And i was so scared because everyone i knew who had children kept telling me all these bad stories! But when it finally happened i was so excited and stayed positive throught the whole thing and i think at the end of the day, if yuor partner is there with you to share the experience, good or bad, you will allways look back on it as the best day of your life. Because you'll be bringing a beautiful little baby into the world! And once you have Him/Her, you'll love then so much you'll want to go back and do it all over again!

My waters broke on a thrusday night after a big night out shopping... i had been sleeping and i saturated the bed cause i sat up instantly and couldn't work out whether or not i was going to the toilet!! Turns out my waters broke! And i was so excited to get to the hospital i walked around the house with a towel between my legs packing my bags!

I wish you the best of luck though, and if you ever need to talk to someone around your age, You can PM me if you like. Or add me to msn messenger! I'm a net-o-holic, im always online lol.

I had an ultrasound at 20weeks with both my pregnancies. With DD (bub#2) I had another 3 after that, but they were 'growth scans' coz the midwives were worried about bubs size...they were going by the measurements of my belly, not thinking too much about the position bub was laying in tho

Have you had any ultrasounds at all? If you haven't then you can probably get one done, the 20 week one is to check for problems. If you missed that one you might be able to have it done now. You will probably have to pay for it, depending on what hospital you are going to, but you can get most of the cost back from medicare.

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy :)
