Just wondering does anyone else get a particular smell "down there" around the days of ovulation?

I get a very strong vinegar smell!!!! Along with creamy, white, runny CM..

I'm on CD10 and I'm already getting this smell as well as the above mentioned CM..it lasts until about CD 14 or 15

What does this mean? Can people check if they're around the same day as me to see if they get the same thing?

Please? :p

Nah, I don't get that. My CM around O is generally clear and stretchy and smells sweet (apparently this change is to help you attract a mate and the CM will taste sweet too - not sure about that one:laughing: )

If you are getting creamy, runny CM that smells vinegary you might want to investigate further because it might be inhospitable to sperm and be a problem. You said it lasts until around CD14. Are you ovulating at CD14 or perhaps you O later and the CM changes again?

Yeah it lasts until around CD14 or CD15 and then it just goes back to normal..I ovulate around CD13 or CD14 as I get pain in one side of my lower abdomen..how do I know if its inhospitable? :(

Emz- i wouldn't be too concerned about it at all. Although i don't get a vinegar smell 'down there', i definitely get some sort of a smell during ovulation after a bit before and after and plenty of other ladies that i know go through the same thing.

From what you've said about your CM and abdominal pain, it sounds like you are ovulating healthily and all normally.

If you are still worried about it and/or are having a lot of probs TTC, i would get it checked out, but otherwise, i would just see it as a healthy and normal bodily function. I have heard of 'inhospitable' cervical mucus...but i'm not too sure how you would go about getting yourself tested to see if u have it. Perhaps a visit to your GP and they might refer you onto a gyno??

Hope that everything works out for u....

Hi Emz.

I wouldn't worry about "inhospitable" CM to much either. I noticed that in the last week I was a bit smelly down there too. My hubby and I have been BDing every second day and I think that my smell is a mixture of stuff. If you have been ttc for quite some time and nothing is happening maybe see your GP for piece of mind.

Thanks for your positive responses girls! That's really helpful :hugs:

It actually appears to have gone now and I'm on only CD12 but getting a little bloated, sore ovaries and a little EWCM already so I'm not worried..I was just wondering what it was..just in case!!

 I tend to smell a little different if theres been lots of BDing going on...which Emz I would say you would generally be fairly active around this time since you are ttc...I wouldn't worry too much..CM changes are widely varied and its a case of trying to figure out what yours are and what they mean.
