Yasmeena, you bring up a very valid discussion and one that I'm sure many of us would agree with you on.

I have PM'd you.

No animal cruelty should be tolerated or accepted in society. It breaks my heart to hear of or see any cruelty to them.:crying:

I don't really understand why you're asking the question - do you really think anyone is going to say "yes, i totally agree with animal cruelty"?

I find it deplorable. I actively work towards trying to protect animals. I am a member of WSPA and teach my children about responsible pet ownership.

To those that immediately profess to be against animal cruelty, do you consume meat and are you aware of the way this meat is produced?

I became a vegetarian because I didn't want to support an industry that is incredibly cruel to animals. If we treated our pets the way some farm animals are treated we'd be locked up.

For eg battery hens are kept in cages smaller than an A4 piece of paper with no access to natural light, fresh air and they often are debeaked (a painful process as a beak is not unlike our fingernails and nailbed) to stop them from pecking at other hens, and their feet are often deformed because of being kept in cages without proper bases.

Pigs likewise, are intensively farmed in battery type conditions. Pigs have a similar level of intelligence to a dog or even more so. They are sensitive creatures and yet they are treated appallingly - especially the sows before, during and after birth of their piglets.

Of course I am against animal cruelty.

Yasmeena, you certainly like asking questions like this. So far all of your posts have been politically-minded or provocative in some way. Just curious, are you a fierce social campaigner or are you just trying to stir debate?

Don't get me wrong - you have the right to ask such questions. I am just curious as to why!

It doesn't seem that this thread was such a good idea after all given the responses to date so we might close it down now.

BubHub remains primarily as a parenting forum for support for parents and parents-to-be. The additional general sections have been added purely through the generosity of the site owners in response to member requests.

When choosing thread topics, it is still important to remember the primary purpose of this forum - friendly, supportive parenting.
