Does anyone know when the Crackerjack carnival is on this year. Have tried to do some searches and have not been successful. I did see it advertised in the paper last year but I have not seen a thing yet. Anyone know??

Ta.

90% sure it's the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of June. Drive past the sign most days.

Thanks for that. I thought it was towards to the end of May last year. Didn't make then as I had a sick child. I really don't want to go to the Ekka this year so I thought we could do Crackerjack instead. I am surprised they don't have a website and there was nothing on the ourbrisbane website either.

Yes it's definitely that weekend - I checked today. It doesn't start until 5pm on the Friday though, then all day Saturday and finish about 5pm Sunday. I'm sure it's starting to be advertised in our local paper. If I see an ad next week, I will come back and post the rundown of what will be on at the carnival.

Hi, I'm a bit over the Ekka (and the cost that is associated with it).

What is crackerjack and where is it???

Shelly I actually haven't been before, was going to go last year but dd got really sick. My friend goes every year and she describes it as the ekka on a small scale. They have rides, show bags, fireworks etc. It is held on Creek Rd Carina. There is some vacant land there. I thought I would give it a go this year just because of the cost of the ekka. I think crackerjack charge a small entry fee, nothing like the magnitude of the ekka:rolleyes:

Thank you so much Angelinalily for your posts. I will be keeping the first weekend in June free. I find it weird that crackerjack doesn't have its own website.

Last year entry fee was $5 for adults and I think (don't quote me!) that under 12's were free.

As Easterlily said it is held on Creek Rd Carina cnr of Stanley Rd at the sporting fields. Most of that block of land is known as the Clem Jones Centre and houses many sporting and recreation groups for the area(Rugby league, cricket, netball, basketball, baseball, tri-athalon, bowls, model trains etc etc). All proceeds from the Crackerjack go back to the Association that oversees the centre and the sporting groups.

It is called a mini-ekka - quite small compared to the Ekka - but worth visiting. Usually have free entertainment in the big tent - Humprey B Bear, Talent shows, bands, baby competitions etc. And fireworks Fri and Sat night.

As you can probably tell I've been most years since forever lol.

I'll post the rundown when I see it.

The official opening is at 10am tomorrow.

Me and little DD will be there, as I'm in the band that's playing in the opening ceremony :) If DD is up for it, I'm going to try and play (bass clarinet) with her in the sling

I am watching the fireworks now as I'm typing. We can see them from our front room
