Firstly, my first born James (3 weeks early) was born within 4 hours of arriving at hospital and my second son Nicholas (10 days early) was born 1 hour after arriving at hospital and both times we left the house as soon as I suspected I was in labour. Usually I arrive smiling then that changes really quickly as my full-on speedy labours start.

So, we were expecting a quick birth from the start. Apparently, each consecutive birth can be half of the previous, this has been the case for me .

All my births have been drug free except for some gas which was not given with Oliver as there was no time.

The birth of Oliver 12th September 2008!

10 days before my due date - It was around 6pm and I had a few funny abdominal/back pains, nothing strong just different. The big clue was I had to go to the toilet (bowels) and never go at night and went 4 times prior to bed. I went to bed early around 9pm and slept on and off with pains coming and going all night plus went to the toilet another 4 times. The pains were starting to really wake me from about 4am onwards but I managed to sleep in between but I was starting to make noises between them.

Finally, I got up around 6am as they were starting to really bother me but I had NO show and NO waters breaking so wasn’t sure if I was in labour (der) funny how u get used to being uncomfy and the last thing you think is you are actually in labour!

The kids were also getting up and I started to find myself very quickly leaning on furniture to manage contractions for a while. I finally phoned maternity around 6:30am and they said to come in if I was feeling I should, I was now feeling emotional and got organised to head in. I had 4 strong contractions in the car on the way and they were exactly 5mins apart and had another 3 on the way-up. We arrived at maternity at 7:10am and I was feeling quite emotional at this stage and the event was becoming a bit blurry. I rushed straight past the midwifes on the desk as I was desperate to be near a toilet.

The cx were coming back to back now and I asked what they could do for me and everyone looked at me quite blank, I then knew it was up to me. I sat on the toilet and my waters were coming, I looked down and the waters looked like the baby’s head (even the middy thought it was the baby’s head) but it burst and I honestly felt some relief as the pressure had eased. For the first time ever I actually had control and started pushing about 5mins after this. I never left the bathroom (I hate delivering lying down from my 1st born being posterier) and leaned over the basin and midwives stepped in to assist and DH stepped out (a bit crampy), I pushed his head out and then his body a few pushes later and then we all heard his first cry, I just love hearing their first cry it is like music to a mothers ears. Our new little man was passed to me for a quick cuddle as I was still standing before being checked over. I can honestly say I actually found myself in control and embracing the pushing, it was an amazing feeling.

As I was more in control pushing this time I only received a small tear and tore worse with the first two boys.

Soon after I got onto the bed to deliver my placenta and Oliver was placed on my chest for some skin to skin contact and then a feed and he has been lovely to feed from the start :bee:.

I felt elated and so proud of myself and couldn't stop smiling and have fallen in love all over again :cloud9:.

I delivered Oliver at 7:44am and was only at maternity for 35mins, he was a nice little package weighing 2.6kg (5pd 12). We are very happy with our three little boys and I am completely chuffed with my birth experience.

We never got any actual birth pics as we parked the car and rushed into Maternity, DH was going to go back to the car to bring them up once I was settled in but everything happened so fast.
