My washing machine is about 4 years old. Since we moved to QLD (4 months ago) it has been leaving these black bits of something on all the clothes. They dont mark the clothes, you can pick them off. It's really frustrating because all our clothes and the floor has these little bits of black something on it.

We will probably get a new washing machine when DF comes back from o/s next year, but I was hoping this one would see me through.

Has anyone else had the same thing? I'm a bit scared to call out someone to have a look in case it ends up costing as much as a brand new one.

I guess try calling the manufacturer first and see whether this is a known problem.

4 years doesn't seem very long for a washing machine's life. :(

I have no idea what the black marks could be.

I remember a while back when I was sharing a house, my housemate had a dryer. One day all the things started coming out with purple marks on them.

Eventually(like a month later) we found it was a crayon that was stuck in the very back of the dryer that was causing it! lol.

What sort of black stuff is it? Is it like bits of black fluff? if so maybe it just needs a clean out. I think its probably best to call someone to see to it before it gets worse and costs you more in the long run.

Same principle as going to the dentist for check ups for $40, could save you $100's on fillings later on down the track
