Was just wondering what everyones' different routine is as far as rinsing and washing their mcn's.

For the last four months since having DD we have dry pailed, put them on a cold rinse cycle to remove any left over poo (tried leaving this step out once and there was still some poo left in the gussets at the end) then put them on a cold wash with 1/2 the recommended detergent and line dry when the sun's out and tumble dry if it's raining or we're about to run out of nappies.

DD now has contact dermititis from a build up of detergent in the nappies so wondering if I should change my system. I've read some people do an extra rinse at the end of the wash to get rid of all residue but I'm thinking of our water restrictions and bill here and don't think it's viable to do a rinse, a full wash and rinse and then another rinse

So what does everyone else do?

I dry pail, do a cold rinse and then wash in cold with a tiny bit of detergent. But if i know i will need to hang inside on the clothes horse instead of in the sun i will do a warm wash..
Ive never rinsed at the end and never had an issue..

i rinse them then put them in a bucket i do both if its hot i usually put water in the nappy pail because it makes it smell less. (well i think it does) then i just do a regular wash with a tiny bit of washing powder.
i either put them on the line or in the drier if its rainy.

what kind of washing detergent do you use.?? maybe you should try a different kind?

Dry pail, cold wash (don't even have hot taps hooked up) and line dry. Never had residue poo on any nappy however we don't leave a nappy with traces of poo on it to dry pail (which isn't so often at 2 as they are solid IYKWIM) Our front loader uses next to nothing in water...

~rinse off poo with little squirt (also use liners so less likely to get on actual nappy)
~cold or warm wash with 1/2 cap washing liquid
~hot rinse every couple of months
~hang in full sun if possible. if rainy, i hang undercover then put in drier for half hour at end.

I dry pail, cold rinse, cold wash with a tiny amount of detergent........then dry on the line or ona clothes horse in front of my sliding glass door. If we are having really gloomy weather I will do the occasional hot wash.

I have never needed to do a strip wash and my oldest nappies I have had for close to two years.
Perhaps you need to reduce even further how much pdetergent you use?? Or try a different type?

Dry pail, cold rinse cycle in the machine then wash in cold with about a quarter of a scoop of powder and line dry. I always used the dryer til recently as we didn't have a clothes line at all but now we do so they all go on the line unless it's raining.
I used to cold rinse and then warm wash and then into the dryer.

Little squirt if needed (some are just shake off piklet ones :D)
Dry pail
Cold Rinse
Warm/Hot wash with 5ml of concentrated detergent
Full sun to dry, if its raining/winter then I use the dryer if I have too (try and dry pockets on airer and just put inserts in dryer) and every 2 weeks I use canesten rinse.

Maybe you should do a strip wash???
