I'm pretty sure that if you ovulate and don'y fall pregnant, then a period will follow.

A lot of B/F mums won't get their periods back for some time after the birth of their child. This is natures way of ensuring that the mother doesn't fall pregant while there is still so much demand on her body from the breastfed baby. It is not all that reliable as a form of contraceptive however, as you ovulate BEFORE you get your period so there is no way of knowing whether your body is "ready" to fall pregnant again until you either have a period or fall pregnant!!!!

Hope this info helps

All I know is that you can never be sure when it comes to nature!

I ovulated, the seed was planted and yet still had a period when I was around 10 days pregnant! go figure!

Thanks girls.
If I did fall pregnant I would be pretty happy as we we want another baby and from what I have been told there are always hurdles to overcome regardless of the age difference btw children.
Thanks again, what will be will be.

Hi,

Just becoz you may have a period each month, it doesnt necessarily mean that you have actually ovulated. You could look for your body's signs when ovulation should occur (around day 14 of your cycle provided you have a 28 day cycle). Sign would include- raised body temp, aches (not bad pains) which occur near your hips(ovary), lower back ache and the best one!!! stringy egg white mucous.

I have just seen a naturopath about it all, this is what he told me, and i just ovulated on the weeked!! hoping for #2! DS is 9months old.

Otherwise, you could try an ovulator predictor kit. I have not tried one so i cant really give you any advice on that one sorry!

Goodluck,

Babydust to you!

Cheers

Hi,

It is possible to have a period without ovulating..... I was trying to have a baby for four years and was not regularly ovulating- therefore not sending an egg down the tubes.

It is not possible to ovulate without a period and not be pregnant. If the egg does not implant (due to fertilization) it dissolves and comes out with the lining (period).

My obstretrician advised that most women ovulate around day 14 of a cycle - Day one is the first day of your period. However depending on the length of your cycles - you could ovulate at day 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 etc as everyone's cycle is different. It comes down to what is normal for you. White mucus in the underwear gives you a general clue.

To give you an example - my cycle was one long period followed by one short one.
I would bleed for about 4 days and then not have a period for nearly 45 days then I would bleed for 4 days and have my next period in 14 days - followed by 45 days and so forth.

I used to have a 28 day cycle when I was taking the pill orally but when I got the pill implanted (in the UK) that was when my cycle went as above.
I had the implants removed 4 years ago and my cycle just stayed the same.

There are numerous reasons for not having a period - stress is a major factor. I suggest that you go and see a doctor to have some tests done.

Hope this is of help
Nicole

I stopped the pill had one period and then they completely stopped for about 6 months. I believed I could not fall pregnant with out having a regular period. I started to get sore boobs and stomach cramps and kept saying to my then boyfriend now husband that I must finally be getting my periods as I had a bit of spotting. Not realising that I was already 4 weeks pregnant. I was a bit worried did a home pregnancy test and yep positive reading. I did three test to make sure. My husband did a search on the internet and he read some where that even though you do not get a period the eggs will keep accumulating in there making you more fertile. Not sure how true that is, but it happended to me. I fell pregnant the first time I slept with my now husband.
