Hi all :p

Does anyone have any idea about the effects of hormonal imbalances on fertility in women?

I think I have a bit too much testosterone as I'm experiencing mid-cycle pain, and getting oily skin and a bit of acne around AF time now that I'm off the pill...

Apart from that I have no other cycle issues my cycles are a perfect 28 days :D

I DON'T have PCOS cos I was checked for that years ago..but the BT results said I have a bit too much testosterone..

Does anyone know whether this can be a problem when TTC or its just that things are a little outta whack with my hormones?

I'd rather know if its going to be an issue now that 12 months down the track

Thanks for your help :goodvibes:

it can be a problem. testosterone, from what I've just read, can inhibit ovulation.

But if I get one-sided pains, bloating and CM around CD13 & 14 then aren't I ovulating?

What can be done if I'm not ovulating?

I did only state that it CAN prevent ovulation. It is also possible to get signs of ovulation without the egg actually being released. I'd be getting it all checked out to know for sure.

As far as if you're not ovulating.....there are things like Clomid that can help you to ovulate. That would be something to discuss with your GP or gyno.

Sorry :o Its just hard when you don't know...

I'm feeling really paranoid at the moment cos I just have a "feeling" something may not be right with me...DF wants me to wait one more cycle though :hair:

I'm sure its too soon to ask my GP for some tests..but my instincts tell me its better to know now than months later..just trying to find some answers..thanks for your help chunkydunks :)

emz if u are worried, get checked again... 3 yrs ago, i had an ultrasound that didnt show PCOS, and didnt really have any symptoms... but now i do... With my BT results, everything read as within normal limits except for my testosterone (which only slightly over the normal range) and my androgens... My PCOS dx was made strongly based on my elevated testosterone so please check u are o'ing... starting charting and if u are then thats awesome (i had also been getting o pain, but wasnt o'ing!) and if ur not then get tested again and take the results to someone who can interpret what they all mean together rather than the individual parts

In saying that regular cycles is a very good sign that you probably dont have PCOS... do u suffer from hirutism or insulin resistance... if you dont suffer from either of these then they would also be good signs it isn't PCOS
