hi all, im a newbie to cloth nappy scene, im going to be using them on baby#3 (he is due in 13 weeks).

im going to buy a six pack of itti bitti dlish, and im just wondering what size to get to begin with small or medium?

my 2 older sons were both fairly large born 8lb 10 oz and 8lb 13oz im expecting this bub to be large aswell.....

so should i just buy medium straight up or do you think i'd be better off buying the small?

Same here

Here is the sizing info for the Itti Bitti website!

Small nappies will fit approx 3.5kg to approx 7.5kg, most newborns fit smalls within the first few weeks, if not from birth. Smalls should last for around 3-9 months depending on the build of your baby and are designed with a slightly wider crotch to help with containment.

Medium nappies will fit approx 6kg to 12kg depending on your babies build. Slim babies may fit for longer, depending whether you are happy with the rise. Bigger newborns may fit the mediums very early on - from as young as a few weeks - especially 4kg plus babies, so try your mediums on to see how they fit. Sometimes however when using the medium nappies on babies below the recommended weight range, the nappy may fit around the waist, but you may get gaping around the legs, this can be an indication your baby is still a little small for the medium size.

Large nappies should fit from approx 11kg to 17kg, again depending on your babies build they may fit for longer and cuddly babies are often able to fit from around 9kgs. Sometimes when using the large nappies on babies below the recommended weight range, the nappy may fit around the waist, but you may get gaping around the legs, this can be an indication your baby is still a little small for the large size.

ok cool, and you girls had no problems with gaping around the legs?

i wonder if i should get a half and half pack half small half medium.....

i just had a look and my boys weighed 6kg at 11 weeks lol  so they get quite hefty early on....and have quite round bellys

and from memory they were out of nb disposables within the first week....

I'd go with the medium. My 6.6 kilo bub is now in the mediums - she has chubby thighs so no gaping or leaking.

I used terry flats for the first 12 weeks and then into medium itti d'lish, I think they would have been a good fit for her earlier than this. She was a big newborn though (4.7kgs:eek:).

You could always order the trial pack and get a small and a medium & then when bub is born decied which size to order more of.

Also I am using a large itti d'lish with an extra tri-fold bamboo booster as a night night nappy on her and it is working really well - no leaks :yelclap: and it lasts 12 hours. Yesterday moring she had done a poo-plosion after waking up and when I got her up she hadn't leaked! A disposable would never have held all that in.

if you end up with a skinny leg baby they will leak around the legs:yes: keep that in mind ;)

i find ittis a small fit. my DD who usually is in medium nappies, is in the large ittis because the medium are quite small. so i would say go the medium.

I don't think she is a big wee-er. I am using a large snap-in Itti with an extra bamboo tri-fold booster (so thats 2 tri-folds & one single bamboo). I put it on her about 7.30pm and then she has her last BF and is usually in bed about 8.00pm, she usually wakes about 3 or 4 am for another feed and sleeps until 7 or 7.30.

When I get her up the nappy is heavy - but it doesn't leak. I don't think this will work once she gets a bit bigger - might have to look at some of the night MCN's.
