My beloved washing machine karked it on Tuesday. :banghead: :banghead: I loved my washing machine. I looked after it well and I paid it a lot of attention by using it 3-4 times each day and this is how it repays me. It was working fine on Monday night, but when I went to use it on Tuesday morning, it filled right to the top then shat itself. I have managed to drain most of the water out, but everything is in there dripping wet still and waiting to be washed. I ended up washing 2 dozen nappies in the bath by hand last night......yuck!!
I'm waiting for DH to wake up and after we get the kids from school we will spend all afternoon sitting around the laundromat. I have a HUGE pile of waiting to be washed clothes. :(

The same thing happened to me when Jayjay was a bub we couldn't afford a new one at the time so we were without washing machine for about a month it drove me nuts. I have my grandmothers old one now it's about 40 years old and still going strong( of course now I've said that it's bound to blow up:o )

They just don't make things to last these days do they? I think I'm lucky to have gotten 10yrs out of mine, my inlaws have gone through about 4 in that time.
My older kids have been wearing the same school uniform all week, usually I wash them daily (they have 2 each) but I just haven't had time to do anything by hand except the nappies.....which were done at 10pm last night.
We have only had a laundromat in town for a year, thankfully we do have it though. They will probably get a years worth of income out of me this afternoon alone, lmao.

my machine died a tragic death a couple of years ago. we couldn't afford a new one so we rented it through radio rentals. it is a very nice machine. it costs us about $35 a month and at the end of 3 years we pay $1 and we own it. if it breaks down in those 3 years they service it for free. if it can't be fixed they replace it. it is very nice. we got our fridge through them too.

We were discussing our options last night before DH went to work. A friend has a spare one she can lend us, but we eventually want to get an 8kg one (do they make 10kg ones by any chance??) when DH gets his tax return done. I did bring up Radio Rentals. Do they give you new or used machines? It's something I've always wondered. And does it work out more expensive than buying from HN or somewhere?
My dad works in Dubbo (4 days on, 3 off) and would be able to get us one from The Good Guys, so I'm keeping that as an option too. Though someone would probably steal the trailer while he's at work, LOL.

Sympathy to you! I know how much washing I do with 3 of us - I can't imagine how hectic things are with 5 of you!
You've just reminded me I need to get the repairman out to look at my washing machine. It's just recently decided to stop mid-cycle every time, and I have to manually click it onto the next cycle. Grrr....I think I'll go stand over it menacingly with the sledgehammer in my hands....:p

radio rentals can give you either a new or used one. if you rent, try buy like we have they generally give you a new one. ours is 7.5kg and is absolutely huge. i don't think you need one much bigger than that. i wash every second day - 2 loads for 6 of us, but i am using disposables i think it works out a little bit more expensive (but not much) and you don't have to worry about services or fixing it if it breaks down. i have 6 more months left on my contract and can't wait to get something else after we have the machine.

Commiserations AK9798.
Are you sure it is in fact, dearly departed....
Perhaps it was just a part that, well..farted??
If it has shuffled off this mortal coil,
I hope your new machine is just as tough on soil.
Consider this an ode to many loads.
I despise laundromats.
They suck.

Should any appliance of mine break down, I simply call the repairman, and upon his arrival, said appliance will proceed to operate just fine.
I'm then lucky enough to get the sardonic eye rolls and the "are you sure it wasn't working love?? " (No, I lied, just so I could see you in all bum-crack- revealing glory)
Speaking of appliances, does anyone have one with a vendetta??
I have a toaster that hates me.
Everyone else gets lovely golden brown toast.
I get charcoal that I have to prise off the elements.

Apart from that particular washing machine, my appliances love me. I think it's because I talk to them and tell them how much I appreciate them. I know it sounds weird but I haven't needed to call a repairman since Jayjay was 8mths old!:yelclap:
