Hi All

I am seeing a my NEW GP tonight regarding CYCLE MONITORING. I was given a referral to a FS, they have asked for this to be done first (which I am happy with) Before jumping into the wonders of IVF. My last GP doesnt deal with this side of things, he was the one that gave me the referral and the FS has said this new GP deals with C.M, so I will have fingers and toes crossed!

Just wondering - what does this involve?

Thank you!

Hi KMS

I had my cycle monitored back in July.

I had to have a bt cd2, cd9, cd 11, cd14 & cd 19. You then have a u/s performed as close to O as possible to check follicle size & make sure there's only 1 etc. As all this was done through a FS the nurse would ring me up the day before to let me know when to have the next bt or when to have sex. The last bt you have done will be to see if you are pregnant or not.

As I live so far away from the city I wasn't able to have a u/s done around O time, so I had a few more bt's instead. However if you were being monitored for IUI or IVF you would need to have the u/s done.

In the end we found out that all my levels were normal & I was ovulating, however it unfortunately didn't help us become pregnant.

Good luck with everything.

I had one of these as well - but no ultrasound just blood tests. And I had a b/t at day 21 and 27 (checking progesterone).

As you can see from my ticker it worked for me!

Hi KMS,

Cycle monitoring can be a great way to make sure that you are doing everything right, and at the right time etc etc.

However, can i just ask whether you have had DH's sperm tested yet? No point in monitoring you if it is your husband with the issues.

This is what happened with me :flowerz:

Hi All,

Thanks for your replies!

I had my appt with my new GP last night (she is cool) She looked over my results from my blood tests and over DH results too. She can see that I did ovulate in the cycle that I had the blood tests done, so thats a good sign I guess!

But now, I have to go for an Ultrasound (INTERNAL) of my ovaries, I am scared and embarrassed.......

Then I have to go back to my GP with my results and I am due for a P/Smear....great hey!!

She has asked me to start charting my temp.

Does anyone know of a website that has an easy to read/understand chart I could use?

Thank you!

Try Fertility Friend for your temping, it's easy to use & if you have any problems most of the girls on BH use it & will be able to help you out.

Honestly there is nothing to worry about with an internal u/s, I've had about 3 done this year. You don't really feel anything & they hardly even look at your hooha as they're putting the probe in. You'll be fine!
